Physical unclonable functions (PUFs) are considered the most promising approach to address the global issue of counterfeiting. Current PUF devices are often based on a single stochastic process, which can be broken, especially since their practical encoding capacities can be significantly lower than the theoretical value. Here we present stochastic PUF devices with features across multiple length scales, which incorporate semiconducting polymer nanoparticles (SPNs) as fluorescent taggants. The SPNs exhibit high brightness, photostability and size tunability when compared to the current state-of-the-art taggants. As a result, they are easily detectable and highly resilient to UV radiation. By embedding SPNs in photoresists, we generate PUFs consisting of nanoscale (distribution of SPNs within microspots), microscale (fractal edges on microspots), and macroscale (random microspot array) designs. With the assistance of a deep-learning model, the resulting PUFs show both near-ideal performance and accessibility for general end users, offering a strategy for next-generation security devices.

Signal complexity analysis plays a crucial role in biomedical research, particularly in electroencephalography (EEG), for early disease diagnosis and cognitive monitoring. However, traditional entropy-based methods lack robustness, suffer from limitations such as sensitivity to noise, and fail to capture the multi-frequency structure of brain signals. To address these challenges, this study introduces Multivariate Multiscale Multi-Frequency Entropy (M3FrEn), a novel complexity metric that simultaneously incorporates multiscale dynamics, multichannel dependencies, and multi-frequency structure into a unified entropy-based framework.

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have been emerging as versatile reticular materials due to their tunable structures and functionalities, enabled by precise molecular engineering at the atomic level. While the integration of multiple components into COFs has substantially expanded their structural complexity, the strategic engineering of diverse functionalities within a single framework the random distribution of linkers with varying lengths remains largely unexplored. Here, we report a series of highly crystalline mixed-length multivariate COFs synthesized using azobenzene and bipyridine as linkers, where tuning the ratio of linkers and incorporating palladium effectively modulates the balance between near-infrared (NIR) light absorption and catalytic sites for NIR-generation of hydrogen peroxide (HO).

Introduction: Galectin-9 is a β-galactoside-binding lectin that functions as a critical pattern recognition receptor (PRR) in the host immune system, initiating immune defense responses by recognizing and binding to pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) on the surface of microorganisms. In this study, we identified and characterized a novel galectin-9 cDNA, designated CcGal-9, from Yellow River carp ().
Methods: The full-length CcGal-9 cDNA was cloned and sequenced, and its structural features were analyzed.

This dataset exhibits the growth profile of multiple rice varieties, most of which include world or Japanese rice core collections, under saline-alkaline conditions through two screenings. In both the first and second screenings, the rice plants were hydroponically cultivated for 4 weeks under normal conditions and then subjected to control or saline-alkaline conditions for 2 weeks. In the first screening, dry weight, dry weight ratio, and SPAD values were measured, and candidate varieties possessing saline-alkaline tolerance (7 varieties) or sensitivity (3 varieties) were selected based on the dry weight ratio.

Massively parallel sequencing (MPS) has caused a paradigm shift in forensic DNA analysis by enabling simultaneous examination of multiple genetic markers with higher resolution. Despite its growing importance, adoption in the 11 Southeast Asian countries remains limited. This paper reviews MPS implementation in forensic DNA laboratories across the region and discusses key adoption challenges.
