Medical errors are common and often lead to feelings of self-doubt, helplessness, and guilt. Society thinks of physicians as healers, and physicians who see their role as offering a cure will always feel as if they haven't done enough. This article discusses five steps in the management of medical and surgical error: (1) care for the patient and family, (2) report to appropriate sources, (3) review the incident, (4) manage legal issues, and (5) engage in self-care. There is a focus on managing grief, with tips for coping.

Purpose Of Review: To review the current medical evidence in the diagnosis and management of thyroid nodules.
Recent Findings: The widespread use of imaging modalities in recent years has led to frequent discovery of incidental thyroid nodules. These nodules are mostly benign (over 90%), hence precise insight in evaluating nodules of concern and following up other nodules is important to avoid unnecessary surgeries and its complications.

Background: In response to the opioid epidemic, many surgical specialties have adopted nonopioid pain management strategies. Ultrasound (US)-guided peripheral nerve blocks (PNBs) are effective in reducing pain and opioid consumption postsurgery. Liposomal bupivacaine (LB), shown effective in shoulder surgery, was approved in November 2023 for use in US-guided lower extremity blocks.

Background: Disruption of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) in high-grade brain tumors is characterized by contrast accumulation on diagnostic imaging. This window of opportunity study correlates contrast imaging features with the tumor distribution of BBB-permeable (levetiracetam) and -impermeable (cefazolin) drugs.
