The accelerated advancement of high-energy laser technology has resulted in an increased necessity for multifunctional laser protection. Herein, we present an investigation into a static visible and dynamic 1064 nm laser protection window. Through studying the photonic crystal energy band structure and topological interface state properties, both 66.49% average visible light transmittance and 84.01% low-energy 1064 nm laser transmittance are achieved. The combination of a large third-order nonlinear effect of LiNbO and strong light field localization of a topological interface state enables a 27.54 mJ/cm protection threshold below that of traditional materials. This study offers what we believe to be new avenues for the development of multifunctional optical windows and novel optical elements.

Purpose: To analyze the effects of ablation interruption on ablation depths and clinical refractive outcomes to characterize the impact of ambient temperature changes and ablation interruption on ocular surface temperature (OST) during excimer laser ablation.
Methods: This prospective study was conducted on laser ablations in polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) plates and porcine corneas to simulate laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) treatments using the EX500 laser (Alcon Laboratories, Inc) at ambient temperatures of 18, 20, and 22 °C. Ablation interruption was performed for 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 seconds at the 10th second of the treatment of -9.

As the first-line chemotherapeutic for glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), Temozolomide (TMZ) suffers from rapid degradation in physiological fluid, making it difficult to deliver sufficient doses of active TMZ to GBM tumors without inducing severe side effects. By protecting TMZ and then controlling its release using an external stimulus, we can prevent its premature degradation, thereby increasing its active concentration at the tumor site. Here, we present a near-infrared (NIR) controlled system in which TMZ is protected within a polymer before its on-demand release.
