Article Abstract

Luohe City is an important node city in the Central Plains Urban Agglomeration in China, where the atmospheric ozone (O) pollution situation has been serious in recent years. In order to provide a scientific basis for O pollution control, the online filed observation of O precursor volatile organic compounds (VOCs) was carried out in Luohe City in July 2022 to understand their variation characteristics and sources. The mean ratio of (TVOCs) during the observation period was (16.49±5.73)×10. Among them, alkane (33.7%), oxygenated volatile organic compounds OVOC (24.0%), and halohydrocarbon (21.9%) accounted for the top three. The results from source apportionment showed that the main VOCs sources (contributions) included the natural gas (NG) use (20.1%), regional transport (14.8%), solvent use (14.2%), gasoline vehicle emissions (12.3%), industrial emissions (11.6%), diesel vehicle emissions (10.5%), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) use (9.8%), and plant emissions (6.7%). OVOC contributed the most to ozone formation potential (OFP) and free radical loss rate (). The results showed that the contribution of motor vehicle exhaust (>22.8%) was the primary source of VOCs in Luohe City. However, other sources were complex and with comparable contributions, requiring the development of targeted and comprehensive prevention and control measures.

Changes in source contribution to particle number concentrations during the 2022 COVID-19 Lockdown on southern edge of North China Plain.

J Environ Sci (China)

December 2025

State Key Laboratory of Environmental Criteria and Risk Assessment, Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, Beijing 100012, China.

The COVID-19 lockdown was a typical example of extreme emission reduction, providing an opportunity to study the impact of lockdown measures on air pollution. Particle number concentrations (PNC) originate from direct emissions or through new particle formation events. However, their variations during the lockdown period are under investigation.

Impact of short-term air pollution exposure on premature rupture of membranes in the North China Plain, 2015-2021: a multicity case-crossover study.

J Glob Health

Department of Epidemiology and Health Statistics, Fujian Provincial Key Laboratory of Environment Factors and Cancer, School of Public Health, Fujian Medical University, Fuzhou, China.

Background: The effects of short-term air pollution exposure on hospital admissions for premature rupture of membranes (PROM) were still controversial.

Methods: Daily data on PROM hospitalisations and air pollutants were collected from 1 January 2015 to 31 December 2021, across five cities in the North China Plain. We investigated the associations between short-term (lag0-7) exposure to air pollutants, including fine particulate matter (PM), inhalable particulate matter (PM), nitrogen dioxide (NO), sulfur dioxide (SO), carbon monoxide (CO), and ozone (O), as well as composite air pollution indicators, including air quality index (AQI) and air quality composite index (AQCI).

Objective: To assess the risk of human infections and investigate the knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) towards sparganosis mansoni among residents in Henan Province, so as to provide insights into formulation of the sparganosis mansoni control measures.

Methods: Qinling Village in Fugou County of Zhoukou City, Bali Village in Yancheng District of Luohe City, Duzhai Village in Puyang County of Puyang City and Doushan Village in Luoshan County of Xinyang City were sampled as survey sites in Henan Province from July to August 2023, and more than 40 frogs were sampled from ponds or streams in each survey site for detection of infections. At least 150 residents were sampled using a cluster sampling method from each survey site, and the sero-prevalence of anti- IgG antibody was estimated.
