Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) constitute an evolving class of permanently porous and ordered materials, and they have recently attracted increased interest due to their intriguing morphological features and numerous applications in gas storage, adsorption, and catalysis. However, their low aqueous stabilities and tedious syntheses generally hamper their use in heterogeneous catalysis. Nonetheless, a capable and water-stable heterogeneous catalytic system for coupling CO/epoxides to generate industrially important cyclic carbonates is still of great interest. Herein, exceedingly water- and thermally stable 2D-cobalt-impregnated hydrazone-linked fibrous COFs are reported as a catalyst for CO/epoxide coupling reactions at ambient pressure. The functionalized cobalt (Co)-doped COFs demonstrated excellent catalytic activities with the high TONs (80925) and TOFs (6466 h), outperforming reported heterogeneous catalysts for CO/epoxide coupling at ambient pressure. We found that the Co ions within the COF matrix catalyze CO cycloaddition through density functional theory calculations. We also confirmed the excellent structural stability and consistent activity of Co-doped COFs up to ten repeating cycles.

This study presents a straightforward and rapid method for preparing graphene aerogel by integrating a sodium alginate (SA)-metal ion crosslinking system, a bubble template, and an osmotic dehydration process. Graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets were dispersed into the solution crosslinked by SA and metal ions, leading to rapid gelation of GO under ambient conditions. To minimize structural damage to the porous network caused by water molecules during the drying process, an osmotic dehydration technique was employed as an auxiliary drying method.

A method is presented for determining the significant parameters, maximum wind speed and radius of maximum wind speed, of the surface winds associated with a hurricane. The method is based on Bayesian inversion, using Markov chain Monte Carlo sampling. Underwater acoustic measurements are used to estimate parameters in the axisymmetric Holland model for hurricane surface winds.

Unlabelled: In the framework of the Argon Power Cycle, millisecond-pulsed hydrogen gas injections into a high-pressure, room temperature nitrogen or argon ambient are investigated. Instantaneous Rayleigh scattering is used to quantify the hydrogen mole fraction in the ensuing jets. A readily available HDEV injector with a straight 0.

The impact of external pressure on the characteristics of SrTeO has been thoroughly examined using density-functional theory calculations up to 100 GPa. It has been predicted that SrTeO undergoes three phase transitions in the pressure range covered by this study. A first transition occurs at 2.

Molybdenum disulfide (MoS) exhibits excellent lubrication capacity rooted in its layered structure, but it suffers significant structural and functional deterioration due to oxidation in ambient environments, limiting its applications. Concerted efforts are focused on enhancing the antioxidation ability of MoS, but challenges remain. This work conceptualizes and demonstrates a contrarian design of MoS-based film via metal incorporation and oxidation based on consideration of key fundamental principles of thermodynamics, chemistry, and physical mechanics.
