In the present work, for the first time, mechanical activation implemented in a rotor-stator device (RSD) has been used to enhance the formation of the amylоse-fatty acid complex in gelatinized starch at a moderate temperature (40 °C) using oleic acid (ОА) as a model guest compound. Mechanical activation was found to cause an increase in the complexing index from 10 to 30 % for non-activated mixtures to 83-92 %. The study of aqueous and dried starch-OA mixtures using optical and AFM microscopy and dynamic light scattering methods revealed a uniform distribution of amylose-OA complex particles with a size of 125-260 nm in the starch matrix. The freeze-dried starch-ОА sample prepared using mechanical activation exhibited a V-type crystalline structure. By rotational viscometry and dynamic rheometry, it was found that mechanical activation causes the gelation of aqueous starch-OA mixtures, which accompanies a decrease in their fluidity and an increase in elasticity. The developed method can be recommended for large-scale production of thickening and texture modifying materials based on gelatinised starch containing a fatty acid as a nutritional or structuring additive.

In the presence of chromatin bridges in cytokinesis, human cells retain actin-rich structures (actin patches) at the base of the intercellular canal to prevent chromosome breakage. Here, we show that daughter nuclei connected by chromatin bridges are under mechanical tension that requires interaction of the nuclear membrane Sun1/2-Nesprin-2 Linker of Nucleoskeleton and Cytoskeleton (LINC) complex with the actin cytoskeleton, and an intact nuclear lamina. This nuclear tension promotes accumulation of Sun1/2-Nesprin-2 proteins at the base of chromatin bridges and local enrichment of the RhoA-activator PDZ RhoGEF through PDZ-binding to cytoplasmic Nesprin-2 spectrin repeats.

Background: Activin A/Smad signaling plays an important role in promoting cancer stemness and chemoresistance in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), however the precise regulation on the termination of this pathway has not been fully understood.
Methods: LncRNA SLC7A11-AS1 interacting proteins were identified through RNA pull-down followed by LC-MS/MS. The protein interaction was analyzed by co-immunoprecipitation.

Background: While the plantar fat pad is known for its role in shock absorption and plantar force distribution during weight-bearing activities, its impact on running biomechanics is not well understood.
Research Question: Does plantar fat pad thickness affect lower limb biomechanics and plantar pressure distribution during running in healthy adults?
Methods: This cross-sectional observational study involved fourteen participants (18-50 years) who ran at their preferred speed on a 10-meter walkway while lower limb kinematics and ground reaction forces were recorded using a motion capture system. Plantar pressure and force on the right foot were measured using a pressure platform.

Triply periodic minimal surfaces have garnered significant interest in the field of biomaterial scaffolds due to their unique structural properties, including a high surface-to-volume (S/V) ratio, tunable permeability, and the potential for enhanced biocompatibility. Bone scaffolds necessitate specific features to effectively support tissue regeneration. This study examines the permeability and active cell proliferation area of advanced Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) lattice structures, focusing on a novel lattice design.
