Article Abstract

Utilizing solid-state polymer electrolytes (SPEs) in high-voltage Li-metal batteries is a promising strategy for achieving high energy density and safety. However, the SPEs face the challenges such as undesirable mechanical strength, low ionic conductivity and incompatible high-voltage interface. Here, a novel crosslinked poly(ether-urethane)-based SPE with a molecular cross-linked structure is fabricated to create high-throughput Li transport pathway. The amino-modified Zr-porphyrin-based metal-organic frameworks (ZrMOF) are introduced as multisite cross-linking nodes and polymer chain extenders. The abundant ether/ketonic-oxygen and Lewis acid sites in the SPE achieve high Li conductivity (5.7 × 10 S cm at 30 °C) and Li transference number (0.84). The interpenetrating cross-linked structure of SPE with robust mechanical strength results in a record cycle life of 8000 h in Li||Li symmetric cell. The high structural stability of ZrMOF and abundant electron-withdrawing urethane/ureido groups in the SPE with high oxidation potential (5.1 V) enables a discharge capacity of 182 mAh g at 0.3 C over 500 cycles in a LiNiCoMnO||Li cell. Remarkably, a high energy density of 446 Wh kg in a 1.5-Ah pouch cell is obtained with high loading cathode (≈4 mAh cm), demonstrating a great prospect of the current SPE for practical application in solid-state, high-voltage Li-metal batteries.

Keratectasias including keratoconus are pathological curvature anomalies of the human cornea, which can progress and lead to permanent visual impairment. Corneal crosslinking can be used to stabilize the disease. Criteria for performing crosslinking have been defined by legislation in Germany, including an increase of the maximum anterior surface curvature Kmax by ≥ 1 diopter within 12 months.

Short-Time Relaxation and Anomalous Diffusion in Dynamic Covalent Networks.

ACS Macro Lett

September 2025

Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering, The University of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois 60637, United States.

Introducing dynamic covalent chemistries into polymer networks allows access to complex linear viscoelasticity, owing to the reversible nature of the dynamic bonds. While this macroscopic mechanical behavior is influenced by the dynamic exchange of these chemistries, connecting the microscopic dynamics to the bulk properties is hindered by the time scale conventional techniques can observe. Here, light scattering passive microrheology is applied to probe short-time dynamics of dynamic covalent networks that consist of telechelic benzalcyanoacetate (BCA) Michael acceptors and thiol-functionalized cross-linkers.

Preparation, Characterization, and Self-Assembly of P3HT-Based Janus Fibers via a Crystallization-Driven Self-Assembly Process.

ACS Macro Lett

September 2025

State Key Laboratory of Molecular Engineering of Polymers, Department of Macromolecular Science, Fudan University, Shanghai 200433, China.

Poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT)-based complex topological copolymers have attracted a great deal of attention for their unique electrical and optical properties. In this contribution, the P3HT-based Janus fibers with controlled lengths were innovatively prepared by sequential crystallization-driven self-assembly (CDSA) of poly(--butylstyrene)--polyisoprene--poly(3-hexylthiophene) (PBS--PI--P3HT) triblock copolymer, cross-linking of the interlayer PI region, and dissociation of fibers in good solvent. The comprehensive characterizations showed that the PBS/P3HT Janus fibers have nearly half the width of PBS--PI--P3HT fibers and fiber lengths close to or slightly shorter than those of PBS--PI--P3HT fibers, indicating that the Janus fibers with adjustable lengths could be prepared in a large window range.

Photoremovable protecting groups (PRPGs) enable precise spatiotemporal control over molecular release and functional activation. Recent advances have introduced wavelength-selective systems for sequential deprotection, broadening applications in drug delivery, material synthesis, and photopolymerization. In parallel, PRPGs play a crucial role in photobase generators (PBGs) and photoacid generators (PAGs), enabling oxygen-tolerant, spatially controlled polymerization and depolymerization through light-induced base and acid release.
