The 20S proteasome is a core component of the ubiquitin-proteasome system, participating in various biological processes such as cell cycle regulation, signal transduction, apoptosis, and protein homeostasis. However, its roles in mammals are well-documented, its function in the insect intestine remains largely unexplored. In this study, we identified 14 20S proteasome subunits, including 7 α-subunits and 7 β-subunits in Locusta migratoria, a worldwide agricultural pest.

Objective: This study aimed to identify potential mutations associated with major depressive disorder (MDD) and evaluate disease-associated risk factors.
Methods: Total genomic DNAwas extracted from the participants' blood samples, and the complete mitochondrial genome wasamplified by PCR, purified, and sequenced. Mutation burden analysis and functional mutation analysis was performed, including total mutation counts, highly conserved mutations (Conservation Index >75 %), and structurally disruptive mutations.

Background: The spread of monkeypox virus (Orthopoxvirus monkeypox) clade Ib from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to neighbouring countries has raised global concerns, leading to WHO declaring mpox a public health emergency on Aug 14, 2024. We applied genomic epidemiology to investigate the causes of recurrent mpox outbreaks in the Central African Republic. We aimed to determine whether frequent zoonotic spillovers or increased human-to-human transmissions are driving mpox epidemiology.

There are no proven therapies for metastatic or unresectable Chromophobe Renal Cell Carcinoma (ChRCC). ChRCC is characterized by high glutathione levels and hypersensitivity to ferroptosis, an iron-dependent form of cell death characterized by peroxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids. The underlying mechanisms leading to ferroptosis hypersensitivity are unknown.

Dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) is a ubiquitous organosulfur compound produced by various marine organisms and plays a central role in global sulfur and carbon cycling through microbial catabolism. In this study, we present the complete genome sequence and functional annotation of Paracoccus homiensis HT-F, a marine bacterium isolated from intertidal algae of the Yellow Sea, China. The genome comprises a 2,714,952 bp circular chromosome with a GC content of 63.
