Article Abstract

Inflammatory liposarcoma is one of the rarest subtypes of well-differentiated liposarcoma. We present an extremely rare case of well-differentiated inflammatory liposarcoma that occurs in the muscularis of the gallbladder, which was difficult to diagnose before surgery due to the lack of specific clinical and imaging findings. Since cyclin-dependent kinase 4 (CDK4) and murine double minute 2 (MDM2) both displayed amplification in this case, they are not only important markers for auxiliary diagnosis but also the focus of current targeted therapy.

The association of the systemic inflammation response index with the prognosis of primary retroperitoneal liposarcoma after surgical resection.

Sci Rep

August 2025

Department of Retroperitoneal Tumor Surgery, Peking University International Hospital, No.1 Life Park Road, Life Science Park, Changping District, Beijing, 102206, China.

Primary retroperitoneal liposarcoma (PRPLS) is a rare malignancy with a high risk of recurrence and poor prognosis. To evaluate the prognostic value of the systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) in patients with PRPLS undergoing curative-intent surgical resection and to compare its predictive performance with other inflammatory markers. This retrospective study included 122 patients with pathologically confirmed PRPLS who underwent surgical resection at Peking University International Hospital between January 2021 and January 2024.

Rationale: Dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDLPS) is a subtype of sarcoma that originates from atypical lipomatous tumor/well-differentiated liposarcoma and undergoes varying degrees of dedifferentiation. DDLPS can occur either concurrently with or after atypical lipomatous tumor/well-differentiated liposarcoma, with the dedifferentiated component predominantly consisting of high-grade sarcomas. Notably, only approximately 10% of DDLPS cases present as purely low-grade sarcomas.

Liposarcoma in a Common Quail (Coturnix coturnix): A Case Report.

Vet Med Sci

September 2025

Department of Avian Diseases, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran.

Introduction: Liposarcoma is a rare malignant soft tissue tumour and it has only been occasionally reported in birds such as goose, parrot and falcon. We present a case of unusual liposarcoma located near the uropygial gland in 2-year-old female common quail (Coturnix coturnix). Such cases are rarely documented, emphasizing the importance of understanding their clinical presentation, diagnosis and management.

To investigate the clinicopathological characteristics, as well as diagnostic and differential diagnostic criteria of perinephric myxoid pseudotumor of fat (PMPF). Five cases of PMPF were retrospectively collected from the departmental files of Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital (4 cases) and Ningbo Clinical Pathology Diagnosis Center (1 cases) from January 2020 to December 2023, the clinical, morphological, and immunohistochemical characteristics were analyzed. Fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH) was utilized to detect the amplification status of MDM2 and the rearrangement status of DDIT3.

Radiation recall phenomenon (RRP) is a rare inflammatory reaction in previously irradiated tissue triggered by agents such as chemotherapy or vaccines. A 67-year-old female patient who had undergone radiation to the right thigh for liposarcoma developed a blister at the same site during whole breast radiation for invasive lobular carcinoma. This occurred three days after receiving COVID-19, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and influenza vaccines.
