Solar-powered interfacial evaporation is a developing and sustainable technique increasingly utilized in desalination and wastewater purification. This technology involves the creation of cellulose nanofiber (CNF)/polylactic acid (PLA) composite aerogels through the Pickering emulsion approach. Self-floating aero-hydrogel (E-VGP) with a hierarchical porous structure was formed on a viscous mixture containing polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), peach gum polysaccharide (PGP), and polypyrrole (PPy) via an in-situ polymerization process. Furthermore, by modifying the hydrolysis time of PGP with a hyperbranched polyhydroxy structure, VGP hybrid hydrogels of varying microscopic molecular sizes were produced. Additionally, solar vapor generators (SVG) with diverse macroscopic structures were fabricated using molds. The V8G4-12hP0.2 hybrid hydrogel, synthesized using PGP hydrolyzed for 12 h, exhibited an evaporation enthalpy of water at 1204 J g. This capacity effectively activates water and enables low enthalpy evaporation. Conversely, the macrostructural design allows the cylindrical rod raised sundial-shaped structure of SVG3 to possess an expanded evaporation area, minimize energy loss, and even harness additional energy from its nonradiative side. Consequently, this micro-macrostructural design enables SVG3 to attain an exceptionally high evaporation rate of 3.13 kg m h under 1 Sun exposure. Moreover, SVG3 demonstrates robust water purification abilities, suggesting significant potential for application in both desalination and industrial wastewater treatment.

Vascularization of implanted biomaterials is critical to reconstructive surgery and tissue engineering. Ultimately, the goal is to promote a rapidly perfusable hierarchical microvasculature that persists with time and can meet underlying tissue needs. We have previously shown that using a microsurgical technique, termed micropuncture (MP), in combination with porous granular hydrogel scaffolds (GHS) fabricated via interlinking hydrogel microparticles (microgels) results in a rapidly perfusable patterned microvasculature.

Three-dimensional printing (3DP) technology enables the flexible fabrication of integrated monolithic microextraction chips for high-throughput sample pretreatment. Meanwhile, the extraction performance of 3DP-based channels is largely limited by printer resolution and the commercially available printing materials. In this work, a 3DP array monolithic microextraction chip (AMC) was fabricated by integrating 26-array helical monolithic microextraction channels for sample pretreatment and 52-array gas valves for fluid control.

Decades of antibiotic misuse have spurred an antimicrobial resistance crisis, creating an urgent demand for alternative treatment options. Although phototherapy has therapeutic potential, the efficacy of the most advanced photosensitizers (PS) is essentially limited by aggregation-induced quenching, which significantly reduces their therapeutic effect. To address these challenges, we developed a cationic metallocovalent organic framework (CRuP-COF) via a solvent-mediated dual-reaction synthesis strategy.

Sectionally nonlinearly functionally graded (SNFG) structures with triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) are considered ideal for bone implants because they closely replicate the hierarchical, anisotropic, and porous architecture of natural bone. The smooth gradient in material distribution allows for optimal load transfer, reduced stress shielding, and enhanced bone ingrowth, while TPMS provides high mechanical strength-to-weight ratio and interconnected porosity for vascularization and tissue integration. Wherein, The SNFG structure contains sections with thickness that varies nonlinearly along their length in different patterns.

The oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is critical to energy conversion technologies and requires efficient catalysts for superior performance. Herein, nitrogen-doped carbide-derived carbon (N-CDC) catalysts are prepared using novel engineered molecular architectures based on polymer-derived ceramic technology. The obtained catalyst materials show a surface N concentration of >5 wt % and a hierarchically porous structure, resulting in a specific surface area of over 2000 m g.
