With antimicrobial resistance as a worldwide public health concern, bacteriophage (phage) therapy (PT) may help treat bacterial infections. However, given its particularities compared with traditional small molecule drugs, there are variations in how it is regulated worldwide. Regulators are key players governing PT, yet their perspectives have been largely unexplored.

Digital media are valuable assets for forensic investigations, offering essential data for reconstructing events and understanding activities. In scenarios where biological or chemical contaminants, such as hazardous pathogens or toxic chemicals, must be removed, it is important to understand how decontamination processes affect digital evidence. This study evaluates the impact on digital media of sixteen decontaminants, encompassing various chemical mechanisms and application methods, that could be used in mass decontamination scenarios.

Counterion-mediated modulation of electroadhesion in polyanionic/polycationic hydrogels: mechanisms and performance.

J Colloid Interface Sci

August 2025

Department of Chemical Engineering and Key Laboratory of Advanced Materials of Ministry of Education, Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084, China. Electronic address:

Reversible electroadhesive polyelectrolyte gels have emerged as promising materials for flexible electronic and soft robotic applications. While current research predominantly emphasizes polymer design and structural optimization to enhance both the reversibility and strength of electroadhesion, fundamental limitations persist in elucidating ion-mediated interfacial mechanisms. Herein, the synergistic effects of ion species selection and interfacial engineering were systematically investigated through the development of distinct polyelectrolyte hydrogel assemblies.

Human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC) have great potential for cell therapy applications. To meet the global demand for hiPSC-derived cell therapies, the implementation of scalable technologies, such as stirred-tank bioreactors (STB), is essential. However, the addition of physical cues, including shear stress, can impact cell viability and proliferation and requires precise tuning.

Process mapping and optimization study of CHO cell cultures for mAb production using Ambr 250 high-throughput parallel bioreactors.

Bioprocess Biosyst Eng

August 2025

Department of Sustainable Chemical, Biological and Materials Engineering, University of Oklahoma, Norman, 73019, USA.

The demand to accelerate monoclonal antibody (mAbs) process development timelines using Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) host cells to bring therapies to patients sooner is gaining momentum. The applicability of single use high-throughput (HTP) bioreactor system such as Ambr250 facilitating precise and automated control is very promising. This entails optimizing process parameters through design of experiments (DoE) using less resources and time, compared to traditionally employed large-scale bench top reactors (2-5L).
