Xinjiang Brown cattle are a unique and widely distributed breed of dual-purpose cattle in the Xinjiang area of China, whose milk production performance differs from Holstein cattle. It has been known that variations in bacterial species of the gastrointestinal tract influence milk protein, fat, and lactose synthesis. However, the microbiota differences between Xinjiang Brown and Holstein cattle are less known. This study aims to compare the bacterial community composition of the rumen and feces of these two cattle breeds under the same dietary and management conditions. The 16s rRNA sequencing data and milk production of 18 Xinjiang Brown cows and 20 Holstein cows on the same farm were obtained for analysis. The results confirmed differences in milk production between Xinjiang Brown and Holstein cattle. Microbiota with different relative abundance between these two cattle breeds were identified, and their biological functions might be related to milk synthesis. This study increases the understanding of the differences in microbiota between Xinjiang Brown and Holstein cattle and might provide helpful information for microbiota composition optimization of these dairy cattle.

This study aimed to explore the impact of different harvest maturity stages (white, semi-ripe, and fully ripe) and various drying methods [freeze drying (FD), freeze drying followed by heat pump drying, and FD followed by far-infrared drying (FD-FID)] on the quality and aroma profile of gray jujube powder. The results demonstrated that both the harvest maturity stage and drying methods significantly ( < 0.05) influenced the physical properties, chemical composition, and aroma profile of gray jujube powder.

Thermal impregnation (TI) is a traditional method of sugar infusion, but it has disadvantages such as long processing time and uneven sugar distribution. Therefore, developing sugar impregnation methods to enhance product flavor, nutritional value, and processing efficiency is critical for addressing potential quality loss and efficiency bottlenecks in traditional preserve processing technologies. This study took the TI process widely adopted in Xinjiang over the long term as a reference and systematically compared the effects of vacuum impregnation (VI) and ultrasonic-assisted impregnation (UI) on the flavor characteristics and physicochemical properties of plum preserves.

This study presents an updated and detailed inventory of the tortricid tribe Eucosmini found in Taiwan Province, China, highlighting 26 genera and 53 species. Several taxonomic novelties were revealed: The genus is newly recorded for Taiwan Province, is newly reported for China, and six species are newly recorded for Taiwan. Most Eucosmini species in Taiwan are widespread in eastern Asia and/or the Palearctic, but 12 (23%) are endemic to Taiwan.

Background: Disease is a key factor to shorten productive lifespan of dairy cattle. Shifting from classical 'treating existing diseases' to 'preventing diseases before they occur' is a challenge in high-producing dairy cattle. Immunity plays a crucial role in defending against disease.

Long noncoding RNAs (LncRNAs) play critical roles in regulating gene expression and cellular processes, including adipocyte differentiation. LncRNA00602 is upregulated in adipose tissue. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the potential role of LncRNA00602 in adenovirus type 36 (Ad36)-induced adipocyte browning.
