Delicately manipulating nanomorphology is recognized as a vital and effective approach to enhancing the performance and stability of organic solar cells (OSCs). However, the complete removal of solvent additives with high boiling points is typically necessary to maintain the operational stability of the device. In this study, two commercially available organic intermediates, namely thieno[3,2-b]thiophene (TT) and 3,6-dibromothieno[3,2-b]thiophene (TTB) are introduced, as solid additives in OSCs. The theoretical simulations and experimental results indicate that TT and TTB may exhibit stronger intermolecular interactions with the acceptor Y6 and donor PM6, respectively. This suggests that the solid additives (SAs) can selectively intercalate between Y6 and PM6 molecules, thereby improving the packing order and crystallinity. As a result, the TT-treated PM6:Y6 system exhibits a favorable morphology, improved charge carrier mobility, and minimal charge recombination loss. These characteristics contribute to an impressive efficiency of 17.75%. Furthermore, the system demonstrates exceptional thermal stability (T > 2800 h at 65 °C) and outstanding photostability. The universal applicability of TT treatment is confirmed in OSCs employing D18:L8-BO, achieving a significantly higher PCE of 18.3%. These findings underscore the importance of using appropriate solid additives to optimize the blend morphology of OSCs, thereby improving photovoltaic performance and thermal stability.

This study pioneers the use of organic nitrate C(NH)NO as an electrolyte additive in lithium metal batteries (LMBs). C(NH)NO can effectively construct a high-quality solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) on the lithium metal anode, thereby enabling dendrite-free and uniform spherical lithium (Li) deposition.

This work presents the synthesis of a molecular crystal of adiponitrile (Adpn) and LiI a simple melting method. The molecular crystal has both Li and I channels and can be either a Li or an I conductor. In the stoichiometric crystal (Adpn)LiI, the Li ions interact only with four CN groups of Adpn, while the I ions are uncoordinated.

Developing solid electrolytes with high ionic conductivity, a high voltage window, low flammability, and excellent interface compatibilities with both the anode and cathode for lithium-metal batteries is still a great challenge but highly desirable. Herein, we achieve this target through an in situ copolymerization of vinyl ethylene carbonate (VEC) together with acrylonitrile (AN) under fitting ratios inside a porous polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fiber membrane doped with flame-retardant decabromodiphenyl ethane (DBDPE) molecules. The received fiber-reinforced polycarbonate-based composite electrolyte with an ultrathin thickness of 13 μm exhibits good internal interfacial compatibility because of the same AN structure and superior flame-retardant performance due to the doped DBDPE molecules.

Background: Previous studies involving cleanup via conventional solid-phase extraction (SPE) materials to overcome matrix effects for the polar organophosphonate and -phosphinate pesticides glyphosate, glufosinate, ethephon, fosetyl, and their various metabolites often showed limitations due to the existence of various matrix compounds in plant commodities with similar polarity. To overcome existing drawbacks, we utilized the unique selectivity provided by metal oxides as SPE materials. These were exploited in a novel automated online SPE-LC-MS/MS method which allowed analyte-specific trapping in the presence of excessive amounts of matrix compounds as typically contained in extracts of the Quick Polar Pesticides (QuPPe) method.

Background: Determination of the estradiol hormone in urine is crucial for evaluating congenital adrenal hyperplasia, certain hormone-producing ovarian tumors, polycystic ovary syndrome, liver disease, pregnancy, and infertility. On the other hand, steroid hormones can have destructive effects on the environment, animals, and the endocrine system of humans. Consequently, accurately measuring this hormone's concentration in trace amounts is essential for environmental safety and human health.
