Pancreatic β-cell function requires precise regulation of insulin secretory vesicles (ISVs), yet the redox heterogeneity within mature ISVs remains poorly defined. Here, we implement a novel oxidation-sensing system using NPY-fused DsRed1-E5 (Timer) targeted to mature ISVs in INS-1E and human Endoc-βH5 β-cell models. Leveraging Timer's oxidative color transition from green (Low-oxidative) to yellow-red (High-oxidative), supported by independent measurements using the established redox sensor Grx1-roGFP2, we resolve distinct ISV subpopulations.

Stress theories propose that the mental health consequences of physical health problems are buffered by social support and amplified by relationship strain, yet it is unclear how older adults' friendships moderate these associations. Using data from 2016 and 2018 waves of the Health and Retirement Study ( = 8,558), we evaluate whether associations between number of physical limitations and depressive symptoms (CES-D) are moderated by friend support and strain, and whether these patterns differ by gender and partnership status. Multivariable OLS regressions show friend strain amplifies and friend support mutes the association between having 3+ physical limitations and depressive symptoms.

Statement Of Problem: Despite the importance of denture hygiene, little is known about how different hygiene protocols perform against multispecies biofilms, including Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus, and Streptococcus mutans, on denture surfaces made from conventional versus 3-dimensionally (3D) printed acrylic resins.
Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effect of hygiene protocols on a multispecies biofilm (C albicans, S aureus, and S mutans) formed on resin used for denture bases and teeth.
Material And Methods: Circular specimens (Ø6×2 mm) were made from 3D printed denture resin (n=77) and heat-polymerized resin (n=77).

The self-consistent field Poisson-Boltzmann framework is applied for analysis of equilibrium partitioning of ampholytic protein-like nanocolloids between buffer solution and weak (pH-sensitive) versus strong polyelectrolyte (polyanionic) brushes with the same net charge per unit area. The position-dependent nanocolloid net charge and the insertion freeenergy profiles are derived as a function of pH and ionic strength in the solution. It is demonstrated that, similar to strong polyelectrolyte brushes, pH-sensitive brushes are capable of the uptake of nanocolloids in the vicinity of the isoelectric point, that is, when the net charge of the colloid in the buffer has either the opposite or the same sign as the ionized monomer units of the brush.
