A 5 mm port site hernia during laparoscopic surgery is rarer than a 12 mm port site hernia. Here, we report the case of a 5 mm port site hernia in an 85-year-old woman who underwent long-term steroid therapy and laparoscopic right nephrectomy. There was also a hernia at the port site where the drain was placed. Due to the 5 mm port at the drain removal site, fascial suturing was impossible after removal of the drain, and countermeasures were difficult. However, we believe that patients at a higher risk of port need suturing wound patients like this and should be carefully observed.

This study investigates how sustained governance of hidden hazards influences safety performance in port systems, using data from 54 production and key non-production enterprises within the Tianjin Port Group. Employing correlation analysis, regression modeling and mediation-moderation analysis, the study finds that both systematic hazard governance and standardized safety management significantly improve safety outcomes. Basic management-level governance directly reduces the frequency of incidents, while site-level governance enhances safety performance indirectly by promoting standardization.

This paper examines the urban transformation of Marsascala, a coastal town in Malta, through the lens of tourism development and its social repercussions. Engaging with Young's (1983) model of touristization and landscape change, and drawing from qualitative interviews, field observations, orthophoto analysis, and secondary data, the study traces the town's evolution from a fishing village to a site of intensive tourism consolidation. Findings reveal how population growth-driven by tourism and foreign labour-has led to overdevelopment, infrastructural strain, and a declining quality of life.

The epidemiological characteristics of emerging infectious disease outbreaks in recent years have underscored the critical importance of controlling imported infectious diseases. In this study, we implemented dynamic tracking of microbial invasions by monitoring environmental microbes at the customs and ports. From July to September 2024, a total of 126 environmental samples were collected from three ports of entry in Shenzhen, China.

Port site metastasis is an uncommon but clinically relevant complication, particularly associated with minimally invasive surgery for abdomino-pelvic malignancies, often indicating poor prognosis and necessitating prompt evaluation for potential surgical intervention. Proposed mechanisms include direct tumor implantation, aerosolization during pneumoperitoneum, surgical wound contamination, and immune alterations. In this report, we describe a case of a 48-year-old man who developed SSTR-expressing port site metastases, occurring 4 years and 4 months following laparoscopic resection of an ileal neuroendocrine tumor (NET).

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) have gained attention due to their chemical stability, bioaccumulation potential, and toxicity. The ocean serves as the ultimate sink for these compounds in the global environment. With the rapid development of the Hainan Free Trade Port, environmental pollution on Hainan Island has consequently become more pronounced.
