Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) have gained attention due to their chemical stability, bioaccumulation potential, and toxicity. The ocean serves as the ultimate sink for these compounds in the global environment. With the rapid development of the Hainan Free Trade Port, environmental pollution on Hainan Island has consequently become more pronounced.

Propofol demonstrates dependence at subclinical anesthetic doses, however, the underlying neural mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we established a self-administration model of propofol in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats, used a combination of the amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) and regional homogeneity (ReHo) analysis approach of resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) to examine the local brain functional activity changes, Western Blot (WB) was used to detect the change of c-Fos protein expression in the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus. Results showed that the propofol-dependent rats exhibited enhanced seeking behaviour and decreased spontaneous locomotor activity compared to saline control group, while increased ALFF values in the bilateral prefrontal cortex and right hippocampus, and increased ReHo values in the left striatum and pons.

However, insufficient research has been conducted on antibiotic pollution in Dongzhai Harbor, which could affect the antibiotic pollution levels in the mangrove forest. In this study, the occurrence, distribution and risk assessment of 37 antibiotics in the seawater and sediment of Dongzhai Harbor were analyzed.

Currently, the definitive diagnosis relies on invasive laparoscopy (the gold standard), with an average diagnostic delay of 7-10 years from symptom onset. Non-invasive biomarkers from blood or endometrial samples could enable early screening and reduce diagnostic time.

We aimed to evaluate the significance of plasma microRNA-15a/16-1 (miR-15a/16) as a biomarker of hepatitis B virus-related HCC (HBV-HCC) using the machine learning model. This study was the first large-scale investigation of these two miRNAs in HCC plasma samples.

However, traditional detection methods are complicated, time-consuming, and labor-intensive. Herein, we developed a novel method using Au@SiO nanoparticles (NPs) and surface microstructure combined with laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (Au@SiO NPs-SMS-LIBS) for the rapid detection of lead (Pb), chromium (Cr), and copper (Cu) in soil samples.

Here, we developed a clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of autologous HBV vaccine-pulsed DCs and their induced T cells (HPDCT) in CHB patients. This was a randomised, prospective, open-label, multicentre, superiority study and 309 treatment-naive CHB patients were divided into HPDCT plus nucleos(t)ide analogues (NAs) group (n = 84), NAs mono-therapy group (n = 82), HPDCT plus Peg-interferon (Peg-IFN) group (n = 69), Peg-IFN mono-therapy group (n = 74).

The microbiota-gut-brain axis (MGBA) plays a pivotal role in drug addiction. However, the pathophysiological mechanism of MGBA in ketamine addiction remains elusive. The present study investigated the ketamine-induced gut microbiota disorders, intestinal barrier dysfunction, and the alterations in brain function, using a conditioned place preference (CPP) model of ketamine addiction in rats.

The persistence of coral reefs globally is threatened by various forms of chemical pollution. Climbazole, an azole antibacterial agent extensively utilized in pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) in everyday life, has been detected in various environment media and proved to have significant adverse effects on aquatic organism. However, the effects of climbazole on coral remain largely unknown.

Background: Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a serious human health threat given its high morbidity and mortality. Timely and effective antiviral treatment can postpone liver disease progression and reduce the occurrence of HBV-related end-stage liver disease. At present, the antiviral treatment criteria are mainly based on alanine transaminase (ALT) levels, HBV DNA levels and HBV e antigen levels according to the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases treatment guidelines.

Background: Liver cancer stem cells (CSCs) contribute to tumor initiation, progression, and recurrence in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The Wnt/β-catenin pathway plays a crucial role in liver cancer stemness, progression, metastasis, and drug resistance, but no clinically approved drugs have targeted this pathway efficiently so far. We aimed to elucidate the role of COLEC10 in HCC stemness.

Background: Nurses certified in wound, ostomy, and continence (WOC) monitored an increasing incidence of hospital-acquired transnasal tube-related pressure injuries (TTPIs) in a tertiary hospital. Hospital-acquired pressure injuries are one of the most common preventable complications of hospitalization; however, the significance of TTPI prevention must be considered alongside the safety of tube fixation to prevent unplanned extubations (UEs), which are serious adverse events. Thus, exploring a quality improvement (QI) project to effectively reduce the risk of TTPIs while safeguarding tube safety is urgently needed.

Background: Despite remarkable advancements in cancer immunotherapy, the overall response rate to anti-programmed cell death-1 (anti-PD-1) therapy in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients remains low. Our previous study has demonstrated the critical role of CacyBP/SIP (Calcyclin-Binding Protein and Siah-1 Interacting Protein) as a regulator of HCC development and progression. However, the possible impact of CacyBP on the tumor immune microenvironment has not yet been clarified.

Background: Anillin (ANLN), a ubiquitously expressed actin-binding protein, plays a critical tumor-promoting role in cell growth, migration, and cytokinesis. Numerous studies have suggested that ANLN is upregulated in many cancer types, as well as significantly associated with patient prognosis and malignant cancer characteristics. Herein, we performed an integrated pan-cancer analysis of ANLN and highlighted its underlying mechanism, which may benefit further exploration of the potential therapeutic options for cancer.
