The tumor microenvironment (TME) is a complex system composed of the extracellular matrix (ECM) and various cell types, with collagen being one of its core components. Collagen heterogeneity profoundly influences tumor progression and the remodeling of the immune microenvironment by regulating tumor cell behavior, signaling pathways, and immune evasion in TME. Different subtypes of collagen significantly affect tumor growth, metastasis, and therapeutic responses by modulating the infiltration and function of immune cells.

Gallbladder Squamous Cell Carcinoma with Diffuse β-hCG Expression: A Case Report and Review of the Literature.

Purpose: Gallbladder squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a rare subtype of gallbladder malignancy, comprising only 1-4% of cases. Ectopic expression of β-human chorionic gonadotropin (β-hCG) has been described in various epithelial cancers and is associated with aggressive behavior. We report the first known case of gallbladder SCC with diffuse β-hCG expression and markedly elevated serum β-hCG levels, aiming to explore its clinicopathological implications and potential as a prognostic biomarker.

Innate immune cells play an important role in the immune system and are mainly responsible for the rapid response to foreign pathogens, damaged tissues, or abnormal cells. However, their immunophenotype in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is altered due to the influence of various components within the tumour microenvironment, including tumour cells, cancer associated fibroblasts, and the extracellular matrix. This immunophenotypic shift results in the suppression of anti-tumour-related immune functions and active participation in further remodelling of the tumour microenvironment.

Long non-coding RNA MALAT1 regulates epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and metastasis in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) through a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) mechanism involving miRNA modulation. This study aimed to elucidate the molecular pathway by which MALAT1 influences EMT and metastatic behavior via interaction with miR-200c-3p and SNAI2. MALAT1 expression was genetically manipulated in the EOC cell line SK-OV-3 by either overexpression or knockdown.
