Background: To review the biological functions of ergothioneine (ERGO), its correlation with plasma levels in cognitive frailty, and research progress in treating frailty and cognitive impairment, with the aim of providing a reference for ERGO application in cognitive frailty treatment.
Methods: A comprehensive review of existing literature on ERGO's chemical structure, sources, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, and its role in cognitive frailty was conducted. Clinical trial data and metabolomic studies were also analyzed to understand ERGO's therapeutic potential.

Butyrate is a short-chain fatty acid produced by intestinal bacteria during the fermentation of dietary fibers and has shown potential in modulating inflammatory responses. Herein, we investigated how sodium butyrate exerts dual, dose-dependent regulation of innate immunity using the zebrafish model of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation. Our results demonstrated that at low concentrations (3 mM), sodium butyrate suppressed LPS-driven pro-inflammatory mediators (il1β, cebpβ, irg1l) while restoring anti-inflammatory and tissue-repair genes (lyz, il8, elf3).

Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a common yet severe cerebrovascular disorder associated with high morbidity, disability, and mortality rates. Kaempferol (Kae), a natural flavonoid with potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, has shown promise in neuroprotection; however, its therapeutic potential in promoting neurological recovery after ICH remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the neuroprotective effects of Kae in ICH and explored its underlying mechanisms using in vitro and in vivo models.

Nanoparticles bind to proteins in cells selectively and form a protein corona around them. However, the mechanisms of protein conformational changes underlying the interactions between nanoparticles and protein coronas remain poorly understood. In this study, we prepared small molecule self-assembled nanoparticles (Aloin NPs) as a research tool to investigate the allosteric mechanism of protein coronas.
