This paper presents the formation of magnesium aluminate spinel using composite particles prepared via electrostatic adsorption (ESA). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images confirmed the presence of AlO-MgO composite particles. A mixture of AlO and MgO raw materials was also prepared by using the conventional bead-milling method for comparison. The samples sintered at elevated temperatures were characterized through X-ray diffraction, SEM, and relative density measurements. Additionally, the lattice parameter and strain of the samples were determined using the Nelson-Riley function and the Williamson-Hall equation. A pure spinel phase formed in the ESA-derived sample sintered at 1400 °C, while the MgO structure remained in the conventionally prepared sample sintered at 1600 °C. The densities of samples sintered at 1450 °C or higher exceeded 90%. The lattice strain of the prepared samples was inversely proportional to the sintering temperature, attributed to the formation of large grains at higher temperatures. However, the sample sintered at 1600 °C for 8 h exhibited the highest strain of 0.0074 because the crystals grew in a certain direction.

Introduction: This study investigated the effect of sandblasting time and primer type on the shear bond strength of composite attachments to full-contour zirconia crowns.
Methods: A total of 108 zirconia specimens were fabricated and divided into 9 groups (n = 12) according to sandblasting time (10, 30, and 60 seconds) and primer type (silane, 10-methacryloyloxydecyl dihydrogen phosphate [MDP], universal). After sandblasting with 110-μm alumina particles, specimens were primed, and attachments were bonded using a packable composite.

Hybrid artificial layer based on inorganic/polymer composite endows superior toughness and mechanical strength, which can achieve high stability of lithium metal anode. However, the large particle size and uneven distribution of inorganic fillers hinder the uniform flow of lithium ions across the membrane, making it difficult to achieve smooth lithium metal deposition/stripping. In this work, a chemical lithiation-induced defluorination strategy is proposed to engineer poly(vinylidene difluoride) (PVDF)-based artificial layers, enabling in situ incorporation of highly dispersed LiF nanofiller within the polymer matrix and precise control over the LiF content.

Background: Kaempferol (KAE), a bioactive flavonoid, has limited solubility and stability in water. Zein-gum arabic (GA) nanoparticles (NPs) are promising carriers for KAE, but the influence of preparation methods on their structure and properties remains unclear. This study investigated the effect of preparation method on the structure and properties of KAE-loaded zein-GA NPs.

Super austenitic stainless steels (SASS) face challenges like galvanic corrosion and antibacterial performance when welded to carbon steel (Q235) in marine environments. This study demonstrates that adding 1.0 wt% cerium (Ce) to SASS refines the heat-affected zone (HAZ) grain structure (from 7 μm to 2 μm), suppresses detrimental σ-phase precipitation, and forms a dense oxide film.

A free radical polymerization approach was applied to synthesize different carboxymethyl cellulose-grafted poly(acrylamide) hydrogels (Hyd) composited with biochar, magnetic biochar, and magnetic biochar decorated with ZIF-67 to decontaminate methylene blue (MB) from water media. Biochar was obtained from walnut shells (WS) by a pyrolysis method, and magnetic biochar (WS/CoFeO) and biochar-decorated ZIF-67 (WS/CoFeO/ZIF-67) were prepared by chemical co-precipitation and hydrothermal methods, respectively. An increase in the amount of these particles by up to 10 wt% enhanced the removal performance.
