Background: Some studies have established a link between gut microbiota, inflammatory proteins, and inflammatory dermatoses. However, the mediating role of inflammatory proteins in the gut-skin axis remains unclear.
Methods: Data on inflammatory proteins and gut microbiota were drawn from the GWAS catalog and MiBioGen consortium, with inflammatory skin disease data provided by the FinnGen consortium.

Fibroblast growth factor 19 (FGF19), and its rodent ortholog FGF15, is a member of a FGF subfamily directly involved in metabolism, acting in an endocrine way. During embryonic development, FGF15/FGF19 also functions as a paracrine or autocrine factor, regulating key events in a large number of organs. In this sense, the Fgf15/Fgf19 genes control the correct development of the brain, eye, inner ear, heart, pharyngeal pouches, tail bud and limbs, among other organs, as well as muscle growth in adulthood.

Objectives: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) and certain inflammatory cytokines have been linked in observational studies; however, the exact causative linkages remain unknown. The purpose of this study is to investigate any possible link between the onset of CTS and 91 inflammatory cytokines.
Methods: A two-sample bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) approach was used in this investigation.
