Background: Emergence agitation is common after nasal surgery under general anaesthesia. Remimazolam, a novel ultra-short-acting benzodiazepine, allows haemodynamic stability and prompt postoperative recovery, but the specific impact of remimazolam on emergence agitation is not well understood.
Objectives: The primary aim of this study was to compare the effects of remimazolam-based total intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA) and sevoflurane-based volatile induction and maintenance of anaesthesia (VIMA) on the occurrence of emergence agitation.

Background: Standardized spontaneous breathing trial (SBT) techniques for patients with heart failure (HF) are lacking.
Objectives: To compare the efficacy of low-level pressure-supported ventilation (PSV) and T-piece SBT techniques in patients with HF.
Methods: This single-center, prospective, open-label, randomized controlled study enrolled mechanically ventilated adults with stage B HF (Nov 2022-Apr 2024).

Objective: This study aimed to examine the effect of opioid-free anesthesia (OFA) on postoperative outcome indicators and explore its application in thoracoscopic or laparoscopic as well as non-thoracoscopic or laparoscopic surgeries, providing a scientific basis for clinical decision-making.
Method: A systematic search was conducted for clinical studies comparing OFA and opioid-based anesthesia (OBA) published from the establishment of the databases to May 2025 using databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane Library. The primary outcome was the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV).

Background And Aims: Accurate assessment of anaesthesia depth in children is essential for individualised anaesthetic monitoring and remains a considerable challenge in clinical practice. The bispectral index (BIS), a widely used clinical tool for monitoring anaesthesia depth, has been subject to controversy regarding its effectiveness in improving recovery quality in children after anaesthesia. This meta-analysis aimed to compare the impact of BIS-guided anaesthesia versus traditional anaesthesia depth monitoring on postoperative recovery quality in children undergoing general anaesthesia.

Background: Tramadol is a synthetic opioid analgesic commonly employed in postoperative pain control due to its moderate efficacy and comparatively favorable safety profile. Nonetheless, overdose can result in significant adverse effects, notably central nervous system depression. This risk is amplified in individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD), where reduced renal clearance may potentiate drug accumulation and toxicity.
