Introduction: is a species of herb used as a popular food in Vietnam. Furthermore, the species has been used as a Vietnamese traditional medicine to treat many diseases.
Methods: Chemical constituents in the essential oil from leaves of were determined using GC/MS analysis. The anti-gout and anti-diabetic activities of the essential oil were determined through the inhibitory assays against xanthine oxidase, α-glucosidase and α-amylase enzymes. In addition, molecular docking simulations were used to elucidate the inhibitory mechanism between the main compounds and the enzymes.
Results: The dominant constituents of the essential oils were determined as -caryophyllene (20.6%), -bisabolene (11.6%), -selinene (8.4%), -elemene (7.7%), -muurola-4(14),5-diene (7.4%), and ()--ocimene (6.7%). The essential oil displayed xanthine oxidase, -amylase, and -glucosidase inhibitory activities with IC values of 28.4, 130.6, and 59.1 μg/mL, respectively. The anti-gout and anti-diabetic activities of the essential oil from the species are reported for the first time. Furthermore, molecular docking simulation was consistent to experiments.
Conclusion: The present study provides initial evidence that the essential oil of may be a potential natural source to develop new diabetes preparations.

In this study, we evaluated the antibacterial activities of plant essential oils (EOs) from the Lamiaceae family against Agrobacterium tumefaciens to find new eco-friendly antimicrobials. Thymus vulgaris L. (thyme white) EO demonstrated the most potent fumigant antibacterial activity among these.

Essential oils (EOs) are a promising alternative to conventional pesticides, but some challenges like high volatility, poor water solubility, and rapid degradation limit their use in Integrated Pest Management (IPM). To overcome these limitations, this study aimed to develop garlic, eucalyptus, and clove EO-based nano-emulsions (EO-NEs) in a bait treatment format through the high-pressure microfluidization technique and investigated the biological activities against Ceratitis capitata. In addition, the adverse effects of the most promising nano-emulsion were evaluated towards a non-target parasitoid Anagaspis daci.

Conductive hydrogels have emerged as promising materials for flexible wearable electronics; however, their facile fabrication remains challenging. This study presents an antifreeze, antibacterial, and conductive hydrogel constructed from biomacromolecules sodium carboxymethylcellulose (CMCNa) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). The hydrogel was synthesized via a simple one-pot method in an ethylene glycol/water (EG/H₂O) binary solvent system, incorporating lithium chloride (LiCl) and clove essential oil (CEO), followed by a single freeze-thaw cycle.

Carbon-based catalysts with free-standing structure are essential for rechargeable zinc-air battery as electrodes, which can avoid the side effects brought by organic binder. However, the current preparation methods still can be improved for faster preparation process and morphology control. In this study, we reported a fabrication strategy of self-standing carbon catalyst loaded with CoFe nanoparticles and carbon nanotube as air electrodes for liquid rechargeable zinc-air battery.

This study evaluated the efficacy of Eucalyptus globulus essential oil (EEO) supplementation in attenuating ascites incidence and physiological disturbances in broiler chickens exposed to a cold-induced pulmonary hypertension syndrome model. A total of 720 one-day-old male Ross 308 chicks were randomly assigned to six dietary treatments, each with six replicates of 20 birds. The thermoneutral control group received a basal diet under standard conditions (32°C on day 1, gradually reduced to 23°C by day 20 and maintained until day 42; relative humidity [RH] 50-60 %), whereas the remaining five groups were exposed to cold stress (temperature reduced by 4°C/day from day 11 until reaching 15°C, then maintained at 10-15°C until day 42, RH 55-65 %) to induce ascites, and were fed the basal diet supplemented with 0, 500, 1000, 1500, or 2000 mg/kg EEO.
