Article Abstract

Herein, we explored the potential of the apple's core microbiota for biological control of , which causes fire blight disease, and analyzed the structure of the apple's bacterial community across different tissues and seasons. Network analysis results showed distinct differences in bacterial community composition between the endosphere and rhizosphere of healthy apples, and eight taxa were identified as negatively correlated with , indicating their potential key role in a new control strategy against the pathogen. This study highlights the critical role of the apple's bacterial community in disease control and provides a new direction for future research in apple production. In addition, the findings suggest that using the composition of the apple's core taxa as a biological control strategy could be an effective alternative to traditional chemical control methods, which have been proven futile and environmentally harmful.

Unlabelled: The genus includes opportunistic pathogens inhabiting engineered aquatic ecosystems, where managing their presence and abundance is crucial for public health. In these environments, interact positively or negatively with multiple members of the microbial communities. Here, we identified bacteria and compounds with -antagonistic properties.

Objectives: Oral health is an important aspect of quality of life for older people, especially those with dementia. The impact of an active oral hygiene program on the oral microbiome was explored in a group of older participants (average age 84 years old) with dementia against a separate control group whose oral hygiene followed the status quo.

Materials And Methods: The oral cavity bacteriomes and mycobiomes were assessed from swabs of cheek, gum, and tongue surfaces.

Unlabelled: Marine heterotrophic prokaryotes initially release extracellular enzymes to cleave large organic molecules and then take up ambient substrates via transporters. Given the direct influence of extracellular enzymes on nutrient availability, understanding their diversity and dynamics is crucial in comprehending microbial interactions and organic matter cycling in aquatic ecosystems. In this study, metagenomics was employed to investigate the functional diversity and dynamics of extracellular enzymes and transporters in coastal waters over a 22-day period.

State Key Laboratory of Marine Environmental Science and College of Ocean and Earth Sciences, Xiamen University, Xiamen, 361005 China.

Unlabelled: Anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) plays a critical role in nitrogen loss in estuarine and marine environments. However, the mechanisms underlying the formation and maintenance of the anammox bacterial community remain unclear. This study analyzed the anammox bacterial diversity, community structure, and interspecific relationships in three estuaries along the Chinese coastline -the Changjiang Estuary (CJE), the Oujiang Estuary (OJE), and the Jiulong River Estuary (JLE) - as well as the South China Sea (SCS) to elucidate their community assembly mechanisms.
