Article Abstract

Rapid on-site detection of copper(II) ions (Cu) with high sensitivity and selectivity is of great significance in the safety monitoring of drinking water and food. Colorimetric detection is a robust fast determination method with the main drawback of low sensitivity. Herein, we developed a colorimetric chemosensor based on a colored polymer product. a Cu-Fenton mechanism, 1-naphthylamine (α-NA) was oxidized by HO and brownish-red poly(1-naphthylamine) (PNA) was produced. The obtained Cu sensor showed a linear response from 0.05 μM to 7 μM, with a detection limit of 62 nM. Our findings expanded chromogenic reaction types for colorimetric detection.

The detection of aliphatic and aromatic biogenic amines (BAs) is important in food spoilage, environmental monitoring, and disease diagnosis and treatment. Existing fluorescent probes predominantly detect aliphatic BAs with single signal variation and low sensitivity, impairing the adaptability of discriminative sensing platforms. Herein, we present a visual chemosensor (galactose-functionalized pyrrolopyrrole -BODIPY, ) that simultaneously detects eight aliphatic and aromatic BAs in a real-time and intuitive way based on their unique electronic and structural features.

Herein we describe a quinoxaline mono Schiff base, synthesised from benzil and o-phenylene diamine that may be used as a fluorescent-colourimetric chemosensor to detect Ag ions in organic media with high selectivity and sensitivity over other competitive ions. The sensing processes were operated by visual change, absorption, and emission measurements, and the binding sites were confirmed by FTIR and single-crystal structure of the Ag(I)- complex. From Job-plot analysis, ESI-mass spectra and XRD studies 1:2 binding stoichiometry between host-guest was observed.

A simple and robust colorimetric and fluorescent eugenol-based chemical sensor, namely, (E)-N'-(5-allyl-2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)-2-hydroxybenzohydrazide (EABH) was synthesized and characterized using spectroscopic techniques such as, NMR (H and C) and mass spectra. The chemosensor shows dual behavior for the colorimetric detection of Fe and fluorometric detection of Pb ions with high sensitivity and selectivity towards both the ions. The EABH detects Fe by "naked eye" color change from lime yellow to brown and displayed fluorescence "Turn-off" response to Pb ion.

A novel approach is reported to quantify CuO NPs in aqueous samples by using digital image colorimetry (DIC), which is a rapid, low-cost, and facile method. We have used a colour recogniser application on a smartphone to register the gradual colour changes experimented, under λ = 365 nm radiation, by a dansyl-based chemosensor immobilised on cellulose paper, after interacting with aqueous dispersions of CuO NPs with concentrations between 5 and 100 µg L. The low limits of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) (10.

A novel indole-based acylhydrazone derivative has been synthesized and characterized by the four spectrums (H and C NMR, IR, and HRMS). The configuration of acylhydrazone is confirmed to be EE through X-ray diffraction. This probe demonstrates a bifunctional chemosensor for the detection of Ni and Ce via distinct optical responses, which exhibits an AIE fluorescence on response to Ce, LOD = 4.
