Article Abstract

STING agonists in immunotherapy show great promise and are currently in clinical trials. Combinations of STING agonists with other therapies remain underexplored. This study aimed to combine STING agonist-mediated immunotherapy with photodynamic therapy to treat breast cancer. STING agonist (ADU-S100)-functionalized porphyrin-based nanoparticles (NP-AS) were prepared and their antitumor properties in terms of cell apoptosis/necrosis and immune activation in triple-negative breast cancer were evaluated. NP-AS induced tumor cell apoptosis/necrosis, activated the innate immune response and exhibited useful antitumor effects. NP-AS effectively treated breast cancer.

Diagnosis and management of thyroid nodule.

Curr Opin Endocrinol Diabetes Obes

October 2025

Department of Surgery, American Mission Hospital, Manama, Bahrain.

Purpose Of Review: To review the current medical evidence in the diagnosis and management of thyroid nodules.

Recent Findings: The widespread use of imaging modalities in recent years has led to frequent discovery of incidental thyroid nodules. These nodules are mostly benign (over 90%), hence precise insight in evaluating nodules of concern and following up other nodules is important to avoid unnecessary surgeries and its complications.

Background: Total mastectomy for breast cancer is an impactful procedure, and breast reconstruction plays a crucial role for women diagnosed with the disease.

Objectives: The objective of our study is to compare satisfaction, morbidity, and timelines of two breast reconstruction techniques after breast cancer: breast prosthesis and exclusive lipofilling.

Methods: This is a comparative, retrospective, unicentric study on patients who underwent total mastectomy between May 2014 and May 2020.

Department of Information Network Center, Third Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, Changsha 410013, China.

Objectives: Increasing detection of low-risk papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is associated with overdiagnosis and overtreatment. N6-methyladenosine (mA)-mediated microRNA (miRNA) dysregulation plays a critical role in tumor metastasis and progression. However, the functional role of mA-miRNAs in PTC remains unclear.

Communication is a salient aspect of coping with cancer. Research suggests that young adult cancer survivors may experience unique challenges, including social isolation, fertility and family planning concerns, dating and marriage, and financial challenges. Little is known, however, about the types of communicative work young breast cancer survivors face.
