To develop quercetin nanocrystals by a simple approach and to evaluate their antifibrotic efficacy. Nanosuspensions were fabricated by a thin-film hydration technique and ultrasonication. The influence of process variables on the average diameter of quercetin nanoparticles was investigated. Moreover, efficacy was investigated in an established murine CCl-induced fibrosis model. Nanocrystals showed a particle size of <400 nm. The optimized formulations showed an increase in dissolution rate and solubility. Quercetin nanocrystals markedly prevented fibrotic changes in the liver, as evidenced by mitigated histopathological changes and diminished aminotransferase levels and collagen accumulation. The findings reflect the promising potential of quercetin nanocrystals for liver fibrosis prevention.

Chronic wounds, particularly in diabetic patients, are characterized by prolonged inflammation, impaired angiogenesis, and delayed tissue regeneration. To address these challenges, the author developed a bioactive scaffold by incorporating quercetin nanoparticles (Qn) into a chitosan/silk fibroin (ChS) matrix, aiming to accelerate and enhance the wound healing process. Quercetin nanoparticles were synthesized via a solvent displacement method and incorporated into a ChS scaffold using a blending and freeze-drying technique.

Hyperglycemia-induced oxidative stress and inflammation critically impair diabetic bone defect repair. Here, a radially oriented microchannel scaffold (D-GSH@QZ) was developed via a directional freezing technique integrated with photo-cross-linking strategies. The scaffold was fabricated from gelatin methacryloyl, silk fibroin methacryloyl, and nanohydroxyapatite (HAp) to mimic the natural bone matrix, while incorporating quercetin-loaded ZIF-8 nanoparticles (Qu@ZIF-8) for pathological microenvironment modulation.

This study investigates the cytotoxic and biochemical effects of PEGylated graphene oxide sol-gel (SJ-go) nanoparticles, curcumin, and quercetin on BEAS-2B human bronchial epithelial. In this work, a new graphene oxide nanocomposite (SJ-go) was produced using the sol-gel method through a one-step reaction. These hybrid sol-gel systems include graphite, triethyl orthosilicate (TEOS), and polyethylene glycol (PEG) having a molecular weight of 8000 g/mol.

Quercetin, a naturally occurring flavonoid, has been found to be a potential agent for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD), given the complexity of its interaction with the serotonin transporter (SERT). Clinically, quercetin has direct and indirect modulatory effects as opposed to conventional selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI), which act mainly by inhibiting SERT after a time delay and communicate with SERT through possible binding location preferences and allosteric processing, while simultaneously controlling its definite expression through anti-inflammatory and antioxidant pathways, such as the NF-kB, AMPK/SIRT-1, and Nrf2-ARE cascades. These processes assist in modifying serotonergic neurotransmission and minimizing oxidative and inflammatory strains, which are the major contributors to the pathophysiology of depression.

In response to the urgent need for highly efficient adsorbents for natural flavonoid compounds, this study proposes a novel layered porous aerogel (TOCNS@CS) based on a synergistic hydrogen bonding/electrostatic interaction mechanism. Through a green aqueous sol-gel method, TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanocrystals (TOCNS) were cross-linked with chitosan (CS), and combined with freeze-drying technology to construct a lightweight, recyclable adsorbent material. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations revealed the synergistic adsorption pathways of carboxyl (-COOH) and amino (-NH₂) groups, enabling ultra-high selectivity in the capture of flavonoid compounds.
