Article Abstract

The cointegration of artificial neuronal and synaptic devices with homotypic materials and structures can greatly simplify the fabrication of neuromorphic hardware. We demonstrate experimental realization of vanadium dioxide (VO) artificial neurons and synapses on the same substrate through selective area carrier doping. By locally configuring pairs of catalytic and inert electrodes that enable nanoscale control over carrier density, volatility or nonvolatility can be appropriately assigned to each two-terminal Mott memory device per lithographic design, and both neuron- and synapse-like devices are successfully integrated on a single chip. Feedforward excitation and inhibition neural motifs are demonstrated at hardware level, followed by simulation of network-level handwritten digit and fashion product recognition tasks with experimental characteristics. Spatially selective electron doping opens up previously unidentified avenues for integration of emerging correlated semiconductors in electronic device technologies.

Recent investigations into the rapid antidepressant effects of ketamine, along with studies on schizophrenia-related susceptibility genes, have highlighted the GluN2A subunit as a critical regulator of both emotion and cognition. However, the specific impacts of acute pharmacological inhibition of GluN2A-containing NMDA receptors on brain microcircuits and the subsequent behavioral consequences remain poorly understood. In this study, we first examined the effects of MPX-004, a selective GluN2A NMDA receptor inhibitor, on behavior within the dorsomedial prefrontal cortex (dmPFC).

This study aimed to develop a predictive model and construct a graded nomogram to estimate the risk of severe acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients without preexisting kidney dysfunction undergoing liver transplantation (LT). Patients undergoing LT between January 2022 and June 2023 were prospectively screened. Severe AKI was defined as Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes stage 3.

The present study focuses on the phenotypic characterization of several mutants of Flavobacterium psychrophilum, obtained from a transposon mutant library. This Gram-negative bacterium is the etiological agent of the "cold water disease", pathology that usually affects salmonids, mainly Oncorhynchus mykiss. This microorganism is considered a "fastidious bacterium" due to the difficulty to isolate it.

The microbiome and volatile organic compounds reflecting the state of decomposition in an indoor environment.

Given that a variety of factors can affect the decomposition process, it can be difficult to determine the post-mortem interval (PMI). The process is highly dependent on microbial activity, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are a by-product of this activity. Given both have been proposed to assist in PMI determination, a deeper understanding of this relationship is needed.

Addressing underrepresented homicide and climate data in forensic science: The case for new human taphonomy facilities in tropical regions.

This review explores the geographical distribution of human taphonomy facilities (HTFs) in connection to climate and homicide rates from the 50 most impacted cities worldwide. Existing HTFs depict temperate climates, omitting tropical and arid areas. This underrepresentation impairs accurate post-mortem interval (PMI) estimates and limits the applicability of findings to global contexts.
