The European Nucleotide Archive (ENA; https://www.ebi.ac.uk/ena), maintained by the European Molecular Biology Laboratory's European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI), offers those producing data an open and supported platform for the management, archiving, publication, and dissemination of data; and to the scientific community as a whole, it offers a globally comprehensive data set through a host of data discovery and retrieval tools. Here, we describe recent updates to the ENA's submission and retrieval services as well as focused efforts to improve connectivity, reusability, and interoperability of ENA data and metadata.

Recent evidence indicates that the concentration of ATP remains stable during neuronal activity due to activity-dependent ATP production. However, the mechanisms of activity-dependent ATP production remain controversial. To stabilize the ATP concentration, feedforward mechanisms, which may rely on calcium or the sodium-potassium pump, do not require changes in the ATP and ADP concentrations.

Background: Intestinal cells receive incoming signals from neighboring cells and microbial communities. Upstream signaling pathways transduce these signals to reach transcription factors (TFs) that regulate gene expression. In inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), most single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are in non-coding genomic regions containing TF binding sites.

Background: Cisplatin is a commonly used chemotherapeutic across numerous cancer types that can cause neurotoxicities in patients, including peripheral sensory neuropathy, tinnitus, hearing loss, and vertigo.
Objective: We aimed to evaluate, for the first time, how genetic ancestry impacts cisplatin-induced neurotoxicities and if disparities are related to population differences in allele frequency.
Methods: In a cohort of cisplatin-treated testicular cancer survivors, relationships between genetic ancestry and neurotoxicities, medications, and lifestyle factors were assessed using logistic regression and Kruskal-Wallis tests and multiple pairwise comparisons using the Wilcoxon rank-sum test (Benjamini-Hochberg adjustment).

Background: Oxidative stress is crucial in the immune response and airway inflammatory process associated with asthma. While the relationship between dietary antioxidants and asthma remains debated in observational studies, this study uses two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) to explore a potential causal link.
Methods: We acquired six distinct categories of absolute circulating antioxidants and five different types of metabolic circulating antioxidants from the most recent genome-wide association study data of the European population, including vitamin A (retinol), vitamin C (ascorbic acid), vitamin E (tocopherol), β-carotene, lycopene, and urate.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the causal relationship between Telomere Length (TL) and Autoimmune Thyroid Disease (AITD) in Europeans using Mendelian Randomization (MR).
Methods: Single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with TL and AITD were obtained from genome-wide association studies. MR analysis was conducted using inverse variance weighted as the primary method.
