Article Abstract

Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) exerts physiological effects in mammals through its conversion to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD). In this study, we established experimental models of colitis by mixing drinking water of C57BL/6J mice with dextran sodium sulphate (DSS), and then fed them with the same concentration of NMN or at the same time. After NMN treatment, we observed improved morphology of inflamed intestines, slightly restored length of colon, improved barrier function and reduced proinflammatory factors expression in serum. Also, significant alterations in the composition and abundance of intestinal flora in IBD mice were found. The abundance of , , and , considered as beneficial bacteria, increased, while and unclassifiably decreased. Taken together, these results suggest that NMN may improve intestinal inflammation, reduce intestinal mucosal permeability and repair gut flora dysbiosis in IBD.

An optical fiber force sensor based on the Vernier effect in cascaded Fabry-Perot interferometers (FPIs) formed by a barium tantalate microsphere and a section of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) optical fiber is proposed and investigated. Optical fiber sensors offer numerous advantages over their electronic counterparts, including immunity to electromagnetic interference and suitability for harsh environments. Despite these benefits, current optical fiber force sensors often face limitations in sensitivity, reliability, and fabrication costs.

The clinical treatment of infected skin injuries caused by exogenous bacteria presents significant challenges, and traditional therapies struggle to achieve multiple therapeutic effects simultaneously. Herein, a mussel-inspired photothermal antibacterial self-repairing hydrogel (BA-PDZn-N) was designed for accelerating infected wound healing. Sarcopenia, the progressive loss of muscle mass, strength, and regenerative capacity with age, is driven by interconnected processes such as oxidative stress, chronic inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, and reduced activity of muscle stem cells. As the population ages, nutritional strategies that target these mechanisms are becoming increasingly important. This review focuses on nicotinamide (vitamin B3) and pyridoxine (vitamin B6), two essential micronutrients found in functional foods, which play complementary roles in redox regulation, immune balance, and muscle repair.
