Article Abstract

The EPIC consortium brings together experts from a wide range of fields that include clinical, molecular and basic microbiology, infectious diseases, computational biology and chemistry, drug discovery and design, bioinformatics, biochemistry, biophysics, pharmacology, toxicology, veterinary sciences, environmental sciences, and epidemiology. The main question to be answered by the EPIC alliance is the following: "What is the best approach for data mining on carbapenemase inhibitors and how to translate this data into experiments?" From this forum, we propose that the scientific community think up new strategies to be followed for the discovery of new carbapenemase inhibitors, so that this process is efficient and capable of providing results in the shortest possible time and within acceptable time and economic costs.

The use of complementary, alternative and integrative medicine (CAIM) is highly prevalent among autistic individuals, with up to 90% reporting having used CAIM at least once in their lifetime. However, the evidence base for the effects of CAIM for autism remains uncertain. Here, to fill this gap, we conducted an umbrella review of meta-analyses exploring the effects of CAIM in autism across the lifespan and developed a web platform to disseminate the generated results.

Introduction: The recently published European Sepsis Care Survey (ESCS) by the European Sepsis Alliance (ESA) showed that the standard-of-care strategies regarding infrastructure and logistics on diagnosis and management of sepsis were beyond what is considered satisfactory. This led to a position statement by the Steering Committee of the ESA.

Methods: A literature search was conducted to compare the compliance with the Surviving Sepsis Campaign Guidelines and/or other medical societies reported by the health care practitioners participating in the ESCS regarding first line fluids and vasopressors, biomarkers, continuous availability for microbiology service and antibiotic stewardship team.

Cancers rarely respond completely to immunotherapy. While tumors consist of multiple genetically distinct clones, whether this affects the potential for immune escape remains unclear due to an inability to isolate and propagate individual subclones from human cancers. Here, we leverage the multi-region TRACERx lung cancer evolution study to generate a patient-derived organoid - T cell co-culture platform that allows the functional analysis of subclonal immune escape at single clone resolution.
