Toxoplasma gondii infection induces anxiety in hosts during the chronic stage; however, its role in pre-anxiety-like behaviors during the acute stage remains poorly understood. This study investigates the role of Bradyzoite Formation Deficient 2 (BFD2), a transcription factor essential for tachyzoite-to-bradyzoite differentiation, in inflammation, apoptosis, and behavioral changes during acute T. gondii infection.

N-Glycosylation critically influences the efficacy, safety and pharmacokinetic properties of biopharmaceuticals. Plant expression platforms offer multiple advantages for the production of N-glycosylated proteins, but their use is impeded by the presence of plant-specific N-glycan epitopes, which raise concerns of possible immunogenicity to humans. In this study, N-glycoengineered Nicotiana benthamiana plants that produce more homogeneous N-glycans without plant-specific epitopes were generated using multiplex CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing.

() is a major causative agent of feline viral rhinotracheitis and ocular lesions. Due to its large DNA genome, the construction of recombinant viruses presents considerable challenges for conventional methodologies. In this study, we implemented an integrated strategy combining CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing with fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) to enable the rapid and efficient generation of recombinant viruses.

Human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived neural stem/progenitor cells are used in cell-replacement and regenerative therapeutic strategies after traumatic central nervous system injury. Traumatic injury alters the host microenvironment, which in turn affects the functionality of transplanted human neural stem/ progenitor cells and potentially limits their benefits for neurorepair. However, the underlying mechanisms through which the host environment alters the fate and functionality of transplanted human neural stem/progenitor cells remain poorly understood.

Background: Autophagy, a conserved intracellular degradation process, plays dual roles in cancer, promoting survival under stress or mediating cell death through deregulated autophagy. Atypical cadherin FAT1 functions as an oncogene or tumor suppressor in a context-dependent manner. Our previous work identifies the oncogenic role of FAT1 in glioblastoma.
