Hemorrhage is a prime cause of death in civilian and military traumatic injuries, whereby a significant proportion of death and complications occur prior to paramedic arrival and hospital resuscitation. Hence, it is crucial to develop hemostatic materials that are able to be applied by simple processes and allow control over bleeding by inducing rapid hemostasis, non-invasively, until subjects receive necessary medical care. This review discusses recent advances in synthesis and fabrication of degradable hemostatic nanomaterials and nanocomposites. Control of assembly and fine-tuning of composition of absorbable (, degradable) hemostatic supramolecular structures and nanoconstructs have afforded the development of smart devices and scaffolds capable of efficiently controlling bleeding while degrading over time, thereby reducing surgical operation times and hospitalization duration. The nanoconstructs that are highlighted have demonstrated hemostatic efficiency pre-clinically in animal models, while also sharing characteristics of degradability, bioabsorbability and presence of nano-assemblies within their compositions.

Objective: Rigid suction-coagulation probes constrain the wrist-like articulation that is central to robotic surgery. We therefore designed a 5-mm single-use flexible suction ball coagulator (flex-SBC) with a modified core design to restore dexterity and assessed its mechanical performance and early clinical feasibility, including the effect of the common robotic gripping strategies on suction flow.
Methods: Preclinical.

Background: Candidiasis, predominantly caused by , poses a significant global health challenge, especially in tropical regions. Nystatin is a potent antifungal agent that is hindered by its low solubility and permeability, limiting its clinical efficacy.
Methods: This study aimed to investigate the potential of a layer-by-layer (LBL) coating system, employing chitosan and alginate, to improve the stability, entrapment efficiency (%EE), and antifungal efficacy of nystatin-loaded liposomes against Candida albicans.

Wound healing is often hindered by bacterial infection, oxidative stress, and bleeding. Traditional dressings cannot simultaneously regulate multiple microenvironments. To address the shortcomings of traditional dressings, this study constructed a dual-network photothermal responsive multifunctional hydrogel OBCTCu based on four natural ingredients, including Bletilla striata polysaccharide (BSP), chitosan (CS), tannic acid (TA), and Cu.

The emergence of special scenarios involving small-sized penetrating wounds has imposed stricter performance requirements on shape-recovery hemostatic materials, particularly regarding their shape fixity and water-triggered shape recovery efficiency. Herein, an efficient shape-recovery sponge dressing with high shape fixity and high-speed liquid absorption, designated as CQT, was developed by integrating a sieve structure with the rough surface coating. The sieve structure, characterized by microporous structures on macroporous walls, enhanced the multi-level and connectivity of the overall pore network, which could improve compressive fixity via enhancing the energy dissipation required for rebound and enabled efficient shape recovery through augmented capillary action during fluid absorption.

The increasing global demand for food and the adverse environmental impacts of excessive agrochemical use highlights the urgent need for sustainable and scalable seed treatment technologies. This paper reports a novel photothermal seed coating (QC@SCCNTs) with high biocompatibility, exceptional photothermal efficiency, and notable reusability, serving as an effective alternative to conventional chemical treatments. The coating consists of sericin-functionalized carboxylated carbon nanotubes (SCCNTs) electrostatically complexed with quaternary ammonium chitosan (QC), forming a composite film (QS film).
