In the present work, a novel Ti-Al-C-Nb composite was prepared using in situ selective laser forming (ISLF). The formation mechanism of the Ti-Al-C-Nb bulks, which were synthesized using elemental titanium, aluminum, and carbon (graphite) powders via ISLF techniques, was investigated. The results showed that the TiAl and TiC phases were the dominant synthesis products during the chemical reactions, and these occurred during the ISLF process. The size of the fine nanoscale crystal TiC grains could reach 157 nm at an energy level of 60 J/mm. The porous structure of the ISLF specimens was disclosed, and an open porosity of 20-44% was determined via the scanning speed and the laser power. Both the high dynamic viscosity and the reactions of the raw powders led to the generation of a considerable number of pores, whereas the specimen processed using 45 W and 100 mm/s possessed the lowest degree of open porosity.

Nitric oxide (NO) is one of the crucial biological signaling molecules, yet achieving its selective and spatiotemporal detection in in-situ/invitro or biological systems at specific pH remains a significant challenge. Hence, a probe capable of directly detecting NO would be immensely valuable in understanding its reactivity and biological functions. Here, to develop a Cu(II)-based probe for selective NO detection, we synthesized a Cu(II)-complex (1) using a N3-tridentate ligand having a pendant dansyl fluorophore (L) and evaluated it's NO reactivity under varying pH conditions.

Fragrances are indispensable additives in consumer products including foods, cosmetics, and tobacco products. However, their inherent instability leads to rapid quality degradation and performance loss, driving the urgent need for controlled-release systems to stabilize fragrance performance. In this work, cellulose nanofibers (CNF) were used to prepare CNF aerogel-like gels (CA) and carbonized CNF aerogels (C-CA) through freeze-drying and high-temperature carbonization.

Direct printing of pharmaceutical powders allows the creation of personalized paediatric dosage forms, such as orodispersible films (ODFs). In this study, we present an optimized protocol to prepare midazolam (MDZ)/γ-cyclodextrin (γ-CD) inclusion complex-loaded ODFs using the innovative direct powder extrusion 3D printing technique (DPE). ODFs were formulated with a polymer blend consisting of polyethylene oxide and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, in the presence or without γ-CD.

Small-caliber artificial blood vessels are highly demanded and face challenges, including thrombosis and intimal hyperplasia. The excellent properties of bacterial nanocellulose (BNC) make it an excellent material for preparing artificial blood vessels. Heparin (Hep)-loaded silk fibroin microparticles (SFMPs) were synthesized in situ within the conduit wall via liquid pressure injection and phase separation, aiming to improve BNC's anticoagulant properties.

The demand for trans-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene [HFO-1234ze(E)] as a next-generation, low-global-warming-potential (GWP) refrigerant is rising due to international restrictions on high-GWP refrigerants like chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). Catalytic dehydrofluorination of HFC-245fa offers a viable synthesis route for the production of HFO-1234ze(E), but the catalyst degradation under harsh acidic conditions remains a major challenge. In this study, a highly stable γ-AlO supported catalyst was developed for efficient dehydrofluorination with vanadium species exhibiting the highest activity among the screened metal ions Ni, V, Zn, La, Fe, Mn and Cu.
