Background: Tracking irradiation to moving targets in spot-scanning particle therapy, which corrects the spot position and energy in real-time, may decrease treatment time and increase accuracy. However, because of the temporal performance of the system, clinical translation remains challenging. Processing time, including image acquisition, volumetric image synthesis, correction assessment, and system response, is required to control the actual treatment system.

Is Tattooing an Injection? Evaluating the Mechanics of Ink Placement.

Acta Biomater

August 2025

Department of Chemistry, Binghamton University, State University of New York, Binghamton, NY, USA. Electronic address:

Guidance recently released by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding tattoo inks describes tattooing as an injection process, but is injection the correct terminology to use when describing tattooing? This perspective aims to provide a brief overview of the core mechanics and science behind injection and tattoo processes, as well as emphasize the importance of using the correct terminology when referencing tattoos and the act of tattooing moving forward. STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: Due to a change in the FDA regulatory framework around cosmetics in December 2022, for the first time the FDA is in the process of actively regulating tattoo inks. Central to how tattoos will be regulated is whether tattoos and tattooing should be considered an injectable process.

This article presents an integrated method for measuring the angular orientation of moving objects, combining a simplified mechanical structure to reduce instrumental errors with a hardware-software platform for adaptive compensation of dynamic errors. Unlike existing approaches, the method avoids inertial element stabilization by using an adaptive Kalman structure for real-time correction. Based on this method, a measuring system for determining roll and pitch has been developed and implemented using a two-channel measurement model with two independent signals and MEMS sensors.

Correcting Sunken Eyelid by Orbital Fat Transposition During Subbrow Lift.

Aesthetic Plast Surg

August 2025

Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital, Hallym University College of Medicine, 1 Singillo, Yongdeongpo-gu, Seoul, 07441, Republic of Korea.

Background: The subbrow approach is reportedly more effective than upper blepharoplasty for improving lateral hooding. Additionally, it allows for the removal of thick periorbital fat while simultaneously tightening weakened and sagging orbicularis oculi muscles. This study introduces a method for repositioning and redistributing the medial fat pad to the central area, restoring fullness in the central area, and improving medial upper eyelid bulging.
