The roots of Bunge. are commonly used in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, and tanshinones and salvianolic acids are its main active ingredients. However, the composition and content of active ingredients of planted in different regions of the soil environment are also quite different, which adds new difficulties to the large-scale and standardization of artificial cultivation. Therefore, in this study, we measured the active ingredients in the roots of and the contents of rhizosphere soil elements from 25 production areas in eight provinces in China, and used the data to develop a prediction model based on BP (back propagation) neural network. The results showed that the active ingredients had different degrees of correlation with soil macronutrients and trace elements, the prediction model had the best performance (MSE = 0.0203, 0.0164; R = 0.93, 0.94). The artificial neural network model was shown to be a method that can be used to screen the suitable cultivation sites and proper fertilization. It can also be used to optimize the fertilizer application at specific sites. It also suggested that soil testing formula fertilization should be carried out for medicinal plants like , which is grown in multiple origins, rather than promoting the use of "special fertilizer" on a large scale. Therefore, the model is helpful for efficient, rational, and scientific guidance of fertilization management in the cultivation of .

The unregulated use and improper disposal of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), particularly phenylbutazone (PBZ), are contaminating water resources and posing serious risks to the food chain. PBZ is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) commonly used for treating pain and fever in animals, and its persistence in the environment due to inadequate waste management has become a cause of concern. To address this, we report the fabrication of benzimidazole-based self-assembled nanomicelles (R2 NMs) for selective detection and removal of PBZ.

Radiation exposure initiates a cascade of reactions, including the release of reactive oxygen species, DNA double-strand breaks, and cellular apoptosis, leading to cell death, tissue damage, and potentially the development of cancer. Consequently, there is an urgent need to develop highly effective and low-toxicity radioprotective agents. Traditional chemically synthesized protective agents face significant limitations in clinical applicability due to their pronounced off-target toxicity, narrow therapeutic window, and high production costs.

In clinical practice, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), a kind of Western medicine, are the primary treatment for depression, a complex mental illness. However, these treatments are associated with significant adverse reactions. With their many benefits and distinctive features, such as all-encompassing intervention and general control through several targets, processes, and pathways, the active components in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) hold great promise for the treatment of depression.

Chronic airway diseases are a group of diseases, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and bronchial asthma (BA), characterized pathologically by chronic airway inflammation, airway chronic mucus hypersecretion, and airway remodeling. Patients usually present with chronic coughing, expectoration, and dyspnea, and recurrent exacerbation is an important causative factor of increased mortality, along with the important triggers. Currently, existing treatment options cannot meet the clinical needs of chronic airway diseases.
