In this study, a simple, eco-friendly and low-cost approach was used to fabricate silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from an aqueous extract of Gleditsia australis (GA) fruit. The nanoparticles synthesized in the optimal condition have an average size of 14 nm. The peroxidase-like activity of GA-AgNP in the oxidation of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) in combination with hydrogen peroxide (HO) was investigated. Further, optimal conditions for the use of peroxidase-like catalytic activity in sensing applications were identified. The colourimetric detection of HO showed a linear range of 1-8 mM with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.34 mM. The oxidation of TMB (red-TMB) enables the detection of glucose, which is converted into HO and gluconic acid in the presence of the enzyme glucose oxidase. The observations showed linearity from 0.05 to 1.5 mM with a LOD of 0.038 mM. Moreover, the blue colour of oxidized TMB (ox-TMB) was reduced according to ascorbic acid (AA) concentration, with a linear range of 0.03-0.14 mM and a LOD of 3.0 μM. The practical use of the sensing system for the detection of AA was studied using real fruit juice and showed good sensitivity. Hence, the easy-to-use peroxidase-like sensor provides a new platform for the detection of bioactive compounds in biological systems.

The long-term visualization of intracellular Fe dynamics and lysosomal activity is crucial for investigating the physiological roles and functions of lysosomes during the growth of organisms. The lysosome-targeted fluorescent probe (RBH-EdC), derived from rhodamine-nucleoside conjugates, demonstrates a sophisticated dual-activation design: one is Fe⁺ response, triggering spirolactam ring-opening to form xanthine structures, resulting in ≥ 1000-fold fluorescence enhancement with visible colorimetric transition (colorless→pink). Another is pH sensitivity, demonstrating protonation-dependent fluorescence amplification at the dC at site N3 (pK= 2.

Food allergies pose a significant global health challenge, underscoring the need for effective detection and suppression methods. Conventional detection methods, such as ELISA and PCR, are often limited by challenges related to sensitivity and specificity, particularly when applied to complex food matrices. This review presents an overview of recent advancements in aptamer-based technologies, which present a promising approach for food allergen detection due to their high specificity and affinity for target molecules.

Mycoplasma pneumonia, a primary aetiological agent of atypical pneumonia, necessitates the implementation of rapid point-of-care diagnostics. Lateral flow immunoassays (LFIAs) hold promise for point-of-care testing (POCT), yet their sensitivity levels are frequently constrained by probe affinity and matrix interference. We introduce an orientational labelling strategy that employs magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) functionalized with staphylococcal protein A (SPA) to simultaneously enhance antibody orientation and facilitate magnetic enrichment.

A novel dual-mode sensing system integrating a magnetic core-shell CuFeO/Cu/MnO nanozyme with a stimuli-responsive agarose-deep eutectic solvent hydrogel (DES-Aga) is reported. The nanozyme exhibits exceptional oxidase-like activity, characterized by a low Michaelis constant (K = 0.14 mM) and high catalytic efficiency (V = 1.
