Functional-structural plant models are valuable modeling tools in analyzing plant development. A functional-structural plant model combines a three-dimensional representation of plant structure with models for physiological functions in order to better understand plant development. We present a guide to simulating crop root systems with OpenSimRoot, a feature-rich, highly cited, and open-source functional-structural root architecture model. We describe in detail how to create your own input files in conjunction with some examples. The aim of this guide is to highlight the potential of computational modeling in biology and to make modeling more accessible to the plant science community.

Long-term large-scale application of acetochlor has led to its accumulation in soil, causing serious environmental pollution. In this study, Klebsiella michiganensis ES15 was isolated from the contaminated reactive sludge of an acetochlor pesticide plant and achieved 79.23 % degradation of acetochlor within 4 d after medium optimization using response surface methodology.

Stacking desirable haplotypes across the genome to develop superior genotypes has been implemented in several crop species. A major challenge in Optimal Haplotype Selection is identifying a set of parents that collectively contain all desirable haplotypes, a complex combinatorial problem with countless possibilities. The objective of this study is to investigate the impact of environmental degradation on agricultural productivity in Pakistan from 1973 to 2021. The study employed the Novel Dynamic Simulated Autoregressive Distributed Lag (NDS-ARDL) estimator as a data analysis technique to gauge the impact of environmental degradation (measured by CO) and other variables, including agricultural credit, quality seeds, fertilizers, and the availability of irrigation water, on agricultural productivity.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are critical mediators of soil biogeochemical processes. While the production of ROS with biochar (BC) in the rhizosphere has not been explored. We demonstrate that BC and Fe-modified biochar (FeBC), prepared at 400°C and 600°C, influence ROS generation in paddy soil containing biodegradable (polybutylene succinate: PBS) and conventional (polystyrene) microplastics (MPs).
