Article Abstract

A literature review was conducted in 2019 on the reconstitution of intravenous drugs. The following methods were identified: manual, semi-automatic, and automatic. A classification was carried out in three categories: automatic syringes, peristaltic pumps, and compounding doses robots. Data concerning the robots described in the previous review and possible robots that have appeared in the meantime were collected. The robots have been classified into 2 categories: with or without arms. The objective of the present review focuses on an updated review of the availability of compounding robots for intravenous therapy that are currently on the market.

Konjac glucomannan (Konjac gum, KGM), a natural plant-derived polysaccharide, exhibits remarkable biosafety and biodegradability. Its unique rheological properties make it an ideal base material for multifunctional composites. Building on our preliminary findings, this review systematically outlines four fabrication strategies for KGM-based hydrogels: (1) polysaccharide compounding, (2) protein blending, (3) novel resource food compounding, and (4) chemical modification, with particular emphasis on their gelation mechanisms and performance characteristics.

Background: Disease classification using 16S rRNA microbiome data faces challenges of high dimensionality, compositionality, and sparsity, compounded by the inherent small sample sizes in many studies. Machine learning and feature selection techniques offer potential to identify robust biomarkers and improve classification performance; however, their comparative effectiveness across diverse methods and datasets has been insufficiently explored. This study evaluates multiple feature selection techniques alongside normalization strategies, focusing on their interplay with classifier performance.

A cancer drug preparation robot was used to select an optimal drug for drug vial optimization(DVO)and thus reduce medical costs and improve the risk benefit profile. We administered DVO for paclitaxel(PTX)30 mg/100 mg, etoposide(VP-16)100 mg, and oxaliplatin(L-OHP)50 mg/100 mg at Ogaki Municipal Hospital. Comparisons were made for preparation time and drug waste(cost)before and after DVO implementation for each drug over 5, 2, and 2 months respectively.

Granule Moisture Content Prediction During Fluid Bed Drying.

AAPS PharmSciTech

August 2025

Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, 10330, Thailand.

The quality attributes of pharmaceutical products have been affected by the duration of manufacturing processes; therefore, manufacturers use various endpoint determination approaches such as time- and property-defined endpoints. In this study, two methods were proposed for determining the endpoint of the drying process of wet granules via experiments on a commercial-scale fluidized bed dryer (FBD) with a production setting. In particular, a near-infrared (NIR) spectroscope and humidity-temperature probes were used to determine their feasibility for alternatively monitoring the moisture content (MC) of granules.
