Knowledge translation (KT) is critical to realizing real-world impacts from health research by reducing the amount of time it takes for evidence to inform practice. One way this is achieved is by engaging with knowledge users throughout the process to ensure that research responds to their needs. It is also important to share the study results in a way that is useful, accessible, and relevant to knowledge user groups. KT planning involves multiple categories described in templates that are available online and referenced in the text. Common knowledge translation challenges and suggested solutions, as well as real-world KT examples, are also provided.

Metagenomic analyses of microbial communities have unveiled a substantial level of interspecies and intraspecies genetic diversity by reconstructing metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs). The MAG database (MAGdb) boasts an impressive collection of 74 representative research papers, spanning clinical, environmental, and animal categories and comprising 13,702 paired-end run accessions of metagenomic sequencing and 99,672 high quality MAGs with manually curated metadata. MAGdb provides a user-friendly interface that users can browse, search, and download MAGs and their corresponding metadata information.

Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) is an astrocytic marker that can be assessed in blood using single molecule array technology. Recent studies suggest that individuals with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) have suppressed circulating levels of this CNS biomarker. Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα) is a crucial transcriptional factor that regulates fatty acid β-oxidation and ketogenesis in response to fasting. However, the mechanisms underlying PPARα function remain unclear. This study identified a novel PPARα-binding protein-RING finger protein 128 (RNF128)-that facilitates PPARα polyubiquitination, resulting in the degradation and suppression of PPARα function during fasting.
