The present study is an attempt to examine the differential expression of genes in longissimus thoracis muscles between meat and wool type Indian goat breeds. Barbari goat is considered the best meat breed while Changthangi is famous for its fine fibre quality. RNA sequencing data was generated from four biological replicates of longissimus thoracis muscles of Barbari and Changthangi goats. A clear demarcation could be observed between the breeds in terms of expression of genes associated with lipid metabolism (FASN, SCD, THRSP, DGAT2 and FABP3). Most significant genes with high connectivity identified by gene co-expression network analysis were associated with triacylglycerol biosynthesis pathway in Barbari goat. Highly interactive genes identified in Changthangi goat were mainly associated with muscle fibre type. This study provides an insight into the differential expression of genes in longissimus thoracis muscles between Barbari and Changthangi goats that are adapted to and reared in different agro-climatic regions.

This experiment aimed to investigate the impact of the diet containing glutamine on muscle fiber types and meat quality of feed restriction yaks. Our findings show that the meat quality and slaughter performance in the feed restriction group decreased relative to the control group. However, diet containing glutamine improved slaughter performance by increasing carcass weight, dressing percentage, net meat weight, and net meat percentage.

This study aimed to assess how sex and age influence the physicochemical and technological properties of the longissimus thoracis et lumborum muscle in Botucatu rabbits. Ten samples were used from each experimental group (females and males 3 and 12 months old). Color (, , and ), pH, water-holding capacity, cooking weight loss, shear force, percentage of collagen (soluble, insoluble, and total), myofibrillar fragmentation index, sarcomere length, cholesterol concentrations, lipid oxidation, and chemical composition were evaluated.

Cinnamic acid (CA) is a natural bioactive substance with antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which has potential value as a novel feed additive. This study investigated the effects of CA supplementation on growth performance, carcass characteristics, meat quality, energy metabolism and antioxidant capacity in muscle of Yuedong black pigs. A total of 100 3-month-old Yuedong black pigs with an initial body weight of 35 kg were selected and randomly assigned to two treatment groups: the control group and the 0.

This study investigated the role of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D₃ (vitamin D₃) in regulating adipogenesis in stromal vascular (SV) cells derived from Korean native cattle (Hanwoo), focusing on its dose- (0, 1, 10, and 100 nM) and time-dependent effects across the growth phase and the early(day 3), mid (day 7), and late (day 14) stages of the differentiation phase. SV cells were isolated from the intramuscular fat of the Longissimus thoracis muscle of four female Hanwoo cattle (29 to 32 mo old) raised on the same farm. Vitamin D₃ treatment during the growth phase significantly suppressed preadipocyte proliferation in a dose-dependent manner.
