Article Abstract

To achieve non-uniform imaging with a large field of view and high efficiency as well as to obtain an adjustable fovea with super-resolution, we proposed a curved retina-like camera array imaging system (CRCS), which is built by an eight-camera array distributed non-uniformly on a curved surface and a camera coaxial with Risley prisms located in the center. By the non-uniform imaging, the field of view of the developed prototype is 150×40 with a reduction of data redundancy by 87.62%. Besides, the experimental results show that CRCS can obtain clear and sharp images of farther targets of interest around the fovea field of view with a constant focal length.

Introduction: This study explores high-impedance surface (HIS) metamaterial shields for enhancing the transmit field in whole-body MRI at 7 T. We studied the possibility of placing a metamaterial layer between the gradient coil and bore liner using electromagnetic simulations to evaluate B and SAR efficiency across different impedances.

Materials And Methods: Simulations were performed in three stages, first metamaterial design and characterization, then single-element dipole simulations with a homogenous phantom, and finally, simulations including a four-element arrays with a virtual body model, including the whole scanner geometry.

The aim of this in-vitro study was to verify which field of view (FOV) in cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) yields greater accuracy in the detection of internal root resorption (IRR) volume, in comparison to the gold standard of micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) and to a physical method. Twenty-five extractedsingle-rooted teeth were scanned by CBCT with two different FOV parameters (6x6-FOV and 10x10-FOV) and via micro-CT. The volume of dental hard tissue was measured on these images.

BackgroundCoronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has led to dramatic changes including social distancing, closure of schools, travel bans, and issues of stay-at-home orders. The health-care field has been transformed with elective procedures and on-site visits being deferred. Telemedicine has emerged as a novel mechanism to continue to provide care.

Minimally invasive and standardized thoracoscopic surgery for stage III empyema using a variable-view rigid endoscope.

Gen Thorac Cardiovasc Surg

Department of General Thoracic Surgery, Seirei Hamamatsu General Hospital, 2-12-12, Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, 430-8558, Japan.

Thoracoscopic surgery for stage III acute empyema is often limited by poor visualization and anatomical complexity. We developed a standardized, minimally invasive approach using a variable-view rigid endoscope and fixed port placement, regardless of disease extent or patient physique. The variable-view endoscope enabled a wide, adjustable field of view without moving the camera shaft, allowing safe access even in the confined thoracic space.

Efficient production of sodium Bose-Einstein condensates in a hybrid trap.

We describe an apparatus that efficiently produces 23Na Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) in a hybrid trap that combines a quadrupole magnetic field with a far-detuned optical dipole trap. Using a Bayesian optimization framework, we systematically optimize all BEC production parameters in modest-sized batches of highly correlated parameters. Furthermore, we introduce a Lagrange multiplier-based technique to optimize the duration of different evaporation stages constrained to have a fixed total duration; this enables the progressive creation of increasingly rapid experimental sequences that still generate high-quality BECs.
