A sulfasalazine-induced DRESS (Drug Reactivation with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms) was complicated by a Crohn's-like colitis. We demonstrated HHV-6 reactivation with presence of HHV-6 DNA and small noncoding RNA in colonic lesions. This observation confirms the major role of HHV-6 reactivation in DRESS manifestations and the importance of looking for HHV-6 reactivation in DRESS.

Human herpesvirus-6B (HHV-6B) reactivation is a significant contributor to nonrelapse mortality following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). This retrospective analysis describes three cases of HHV-6B reactivation following allo-HSCT, all of which achieved viral clearance with maribavir treatment following failure or intolerance to first-line antiviral therapy with foscarnet sodium. One patient diagnosed with HHV-6B encephalitis recovered without neurological sequelae.

Human herpesviruses 6A and 6B (HHV-6A/B) can integrate into the germline, resulting in inherited viral DNA-now proposed to be called "endogenous HHV-6A/B (eHHV-6A/B)." Present in 0.2-3% of humans, this integrated DNA is passed to offspring and may reactivate, posing health risks such as angina or lupus.

Reactivation of human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is observed in multiple sclerosis (MS). This study investigates immunoglobulins (Ig)G, IgM, and IgA responses to EBV nuclear antigen EBNA (peptide 386-405), HHV-6 (peptide 300-322) and EBV (peptide 243-268) deoxyuridine-triphosphatase (dUTPase), and different immune profiles in 58 patients with relapsing remitting MS (RRMS) compared to 60 healthy controls. IgA/IgG/IgM were measured utilizing enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, and cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors utilizing multiplex immunoassays.
