Article Abstract

We introduce chemical reactivity flowcharts to help chemists interpret reaction outcomes using statistically robust machine learning models trained on a small number of reactions. We developed fast sulfonylimine multicomponent reactions for understanding reactivity and to generate training data. Accelerated reactivity mechanisms were investigated using density functional theory. Intuitive chemical features learned by the model accurately predicted heterogeneous reactivity of -sulfonylimine with different carboxylic acids. Validation of the predictions shows that reaction outcome interpretation is useful for human chemists.

In alpine meadow regions, macropore flow is a critical but inadequately understood pathway for antibiotic transport. The complex relationship between macropore structure, flow dynamics, and solute properties presents a significant research gap. Methodological limitations hinder the accurate characterization of solute migration mechanisms due to complex macropore structures.

Freezing enhancing the photochemistry of dissolved organic matter (DOM), yet the mechanism of reactive intermediate (RIs) generation influenced by DOM property and structure remain elusive. Here, we demonstrate that freezing induces exceptional amplification of RIs, with steady-state concentrations in ice (-10 °C) surpassing aqueous solutions by 5-41 times. Laser scanning confocal microscopy first visualized cryo-concentration of DOM and RIs in liquid-like regions (LLR).

The practical application of formic acid for large-scale hydrogen storage is constrained by its low H production rates. Conventional strategies rely on excessive chemical additives to accelerate the initial deprotonation step for efficient dehydrogenation. However, this approach is energy-consuming and compromises the intrinsic hydrogen storage density (53 g L) of formic acid.

Excessive inflammation and overexpressed matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are significant factors in the prolonged healing of chronic diabetic wounds. Here, a precise gene therapy strategy is proposed utilizing siRNA and employing intelligent responsive materials for controlled release to mechanistically intervene in the pathological process of chronic non-healing wounds. The system employs a cationic hyperbranched aminoglycoside with disulfide bonds (SS-HPT) as its core delivery mechanism.

Silatranization, a specialized variant of silanization using silatrane compounds, is emerging as a powerful strategy to functionalize material surfaces. Compared to conventional silane coupling agents, silatranes exhibit remarkable hydrolytic stability and enhanced resistance to self-condensation, enabling controllable, water-independent formation of a polysiloxane self-assembled monolayer. This review critically examines the unique structure of silatranyl cages, emphasizing how the intramolecular N->Si bond and chelate effect modulate the silicon center's reactivity toward hydroxyl-decorated surfaces.
