A literature curated dataset containing 24 distinct metal oxide (MeO) nanoparticles (NPs), including 15 physicochemical, structural and assay-related descriptors, was enriched with 62 atomistic computational descriptors and exploited to produce a robust and validated in silico model for prediction of NP cytotoxicity. The model can be used to predict the cytotoxicity (cell viability) of MeO NPs based on the colorimetric lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) assay and the luminometric adenosine triphosphate (ATP) assay, both of which quantify irreversible cell membrane damage. Out of the 77 total descriptors used, 7 were identified as being significant for induction of cytotoxicity by MeO NPs. These were NP core size, hydrodynamic size, assay type, exposure dose, the energy of the MeO conduction band (), the coordination number of the metal atoms on the NP surface (Avg. C.N. Me atoms surface) and the average force vector surface normal component of all metal atoms (v⟂ Me atoms surface). The significance and effect of these descriptors is discussed to demonstrate their direct correlation with cytotoxicity. The produced model has been made publicly available by the Horizon 2020 (H2020) NanoSolveIT project and will be added to the project's Integrated Approach to Testing and Assessment (IATA).

Synthesis, characterization, and electrocatalytic water oxidation studies of the cubane-type complexes [(μ-)CoCl(MeOH)] (1) and [(μ-)CoCl(MeOH)] (2) are herein reported. Cubanes 1 and 2 were obtained in high yields under mild conditions by self-assembly of the ligands = 1--2-benzimidazolylmethanol and = 1-methyl-2-benzimidazolylmethanol with CoCl·6HO in basic methanolic solution. Both compounds feature a cubane-type structure in which the central {CoO} units are built by four Co centers coordinated by alkoxide-bridged oxygen and nitrogen atoms from the deprotonated ligands and stabilized by MeOH molecules and chloride ions.

Overcoming the persistent challenges of high operating temperatures and poor selectivity in metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) gas sensors, this work enhances defect sites in the sensing material through heterostructure construction and builds mesoporous architectures using MOF-derived carbon skeletons as templates. The synergistic effects of multiple mechanisms significantly improve gas-sensing performance, successfully fabricating a ZnO/PCS flexible room-temperature gas sensor with exceptional room-temperature DMF detection capabilities. The nitrogen-containing porous carbon skeletons (PCSs) template shows a stable mesoporous microstructure with large pore volume.

Against the backdrop of global carbon neutrality target driving the transformation of energy structure, alcohol fuel cells (AFCs) show great application potential; However, the sluggish kinetics of their anodic alcohol oxidation reaction hinders the commercialization of AFCs. Metallene is a novel 2D material with potential application prospect in the field of electrocatalysis. In this paper, PdMoW trimetallene has been successfully produced by a one-pot wet-chemical method, which displays a unique two-dimensional curved ultrathin graphene structure.

This study investigates the nanoscale surface morphology of Anopheles darlingi and Anopheles aquasalis mosquito wings using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and fractal analysis. High-resolution 3D AFM imaging revealed pronounced inter- and intra-species differences, with the ventral surface of An. darlingi (V-Ad) exhibiting the greatest roughness (Sq = 45.

Accelerating the rate-limiting surface Fe(III)/Fe(II) redox cycling is pivotal for efficient iron-mediated Fenton-like decontamination, yet conventional reductants (e.g., toxic hydroxylamine, thiosulfate) suffer from secondary toxicity, self-quenching, and heavy metal leaching.
