Background: Since the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, how meteorological factors and COVID-19 control measures in China impact the transmission dynamics of influenza-like illness (ILI) across age groups remains unclear.
Objective: This study aims to explore the changes in the seasonal ILI epidemics and the effects of meteorological factors across age groups in Jiangsu, China, before the COVID-19 pandemic and after the relaxation of COVID-19 control measures.
Methods: The time-varying reproduction number ( ) and doubling time of ILI were deployed to describe the trend and iteration time of the ILI epidemic, and the effect of Chinese government response to COVID-19 on the ILI epidemic, respectively.

Background: Dyspnea is a common clinical symptom and cause of outpatient and inpatient presentations to the clinic. Diagnostic and therapeutic challenges appear, when additional diseases appear that are themselves associated with subjectively perceptible dyspnea. We report on a young woman with orthopnea as a trigger of a diagnostic cascade of various diseases.

A 46-year-old man was diagnosed with anti jo-1 antibody-positive dermatomyositis 11 years ago and had been treated with prednisolone and tacrolimus. In the present case, after contracting SARS-CoV-2 virus infection, his dyspnoea rapidly worsened, and he presented with renal and cardiac failure. Based on the biopsy results of the same area and anti-U1-RNP antibody positivity, he was diagnosed with systemic sclerosis and scleroderma renal crisis and required haemodialysis.

Peptide-based biosensors are widely used for in vitro detection of protease activity but often suffer from the limited sensitivity, poor accuracy, and incompatibility with point-of-care testing (POCT) devices. Herein, we developed a versatile deoxyribozyme (DNAzyme)-amplified protease-sensing (DP) platform that integrates the positively charged oligopeptides with a negatively charged DNAzyme biocatalyst for highly-sensitive protease detection. The system leverages the electrostatic peptide-DNAzyme interactions to inhibit DNAzyme catalytic activity, which is reactivated upon the protease-triggered peptide hydrolysis, thus enabling an efficient signal amplification via the successive cleavage of DNAzyme substrate.

The emergence of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) as the causative agent of COVID-19 precipitated a global health crisis of unprecedented scale. SARS-CoV-2 has been shown to interfere specifically with S phase progression during early stages of infection. Nucleocapsid (N) is an important structural protein.
