Pectinases have many applications in the industry of food, paper, and textiles, therefore finding novel polygalacturonases is required. Multiple sequence alignment and phylogenetic analysis of AnEPG (an endo-α-1,4-polygalacturonase from ) and other GH 28 endo-polygalacturonases suggested that AnEPG is different from others. AnEPG overexpressed in was characterized. AnEPG showed the highest activity at pH 4.0, and exhibited moderate activity over a narrow pH range (pH 2.0-5.0) and superior stability in a wide pH range (pH 2.0-12.0). It displayed the highest activity at 60 °C, and retained >42.2% of maximum activity between 20 and 80 °C. It was stable below 40 °C and lost activity very quickly above 50 °C. Its apparent kinetic parameters against PGA (polygalacturonic acid) were determined, with the and values of 8.3 mg/mL and 5640 μmol/min/mg, respectively. Ba and Ni enhanced activity by 12.2% and 9.4%, respectively, while Ca, Cu, and Mn inhibited activity by 14.8%, 12.8%, and 10.2% separately. Analysis of hydrolysis products by AnEPG proved that AnEPG belongs to an endo-polygalacturonase. Modelled structure of AnEPG by I-TASSER showed structural characteristics of endo-polygalacturonases. This pectinase has great potential to be used in food industry and as feed additives.

This case report presents a complex case of acute cholecystitis, cholangitis, pancreatitis, intrahepatic abscesses, and sepsis without biliary obstruction, highlighting the challenges of managing multi-organ involvement in a critically ill individual. The patient, a middle-aged male, presented with fever, jaundice, and abdominal pain, with imaging revealing biliary ductal dilation, a distended gallbladder, and a staghorn calculus. Laboratory findings showed elevated liver enzymes, bilirubin, and lipase, supporting the diagnosis of acute cholecystitis, cholangitis, and pancreatitis.

The textile industry plays a central role in economic development; however, the discharge of wastewater with diverse dyes poses higher risks to both ecosystems and human health. This study investigated the treatment of real-time reactive dye-based textile industrial wastewater using a hybrid electrocoagulation (EC) and adsorption (AD) process, with algal-derived activated carbon (AAC) as a novel adsorbent. AAC provides a sustainable and eco-friendly option for enhancing treatment efficiency, along with the EC process, compared with the stand-alone process.

The southern pudu () faces significant threats from anthropogenic activities and infectious diseases. Using whole-genome sequencing (WGS) and forensic microbiology research, we describe a triple bacterial co-infection in a southern pudu impacted by wildfire disasters. The deer presented infected burn wounds on the extremities and dog bite wounds in the lumbosacral region, from which a multidrug-resistant CTX-M-1-producing sequence type (ST) ST224 and a ST145 were isolated, respectively.

Social behaviors mature during the adolescent period. Prefrontal parvalbumin (PV) neurons have been shown to play a critical role in this process, and their deregulation by early social isolation leads to social deficits in adulthood. However, the molecular mechanisms by which early social isolation affects prefrontal PV neurons causing social impairments remain unclear.

Introduction: As global populations age, ensuring older adults maintain functional ability and wellbeing is a critical public health priority. The Integrated Senior Health and Wellness (ISHW) Hub program, developed by Singapore General Hospital (SGH), operationalizes the World Health Organization's (WHO) Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) framework within community-based models of care. Implemented in partnership with Active Aging Centers (AACs), ISHW enhances preventive health through structured screening, customizable nutrition education, and targeted physical activity interventions.
