Article Abstract

Objective: to describe the process of content adaptation and validation of the Geriatric Institutional Assessment Profile (GIAP) for nurses working in the health care for older adults in Brazilian hospitals.

Method: methodological study conducted in five stages: initial translation, synthesis of initial translation, back translation, evaluation by committee of judges, and pre-test for cultural adaptation of the instrument.

Results: the instrument evaluation had good agreement between the judges, with general content validity of 0.94. The items of the translated version evaluated as unsatisfactory by the judges were reformulated from the professionals' considerations in each group. Thirty-one subjects participated in the study. They considered the instrument easy-to-understand and suggested minor adjustments in some items.

Conclusion: the content of the Brazilian version of the GIAP is considered adapted and validated, with potential use in hospital institutions. The next stage will be to submit the instrument to the evaluation process of its psychometric properties for use in Brazilian populations.

Plasma Proteomic High-Performance Biomarkers for Early Diagnosis of Colorectal Cancer.

J Proteome Res

September 2025

Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu 610041, China.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a major global health challenge due to its high incidence, mortality, and low rate of early detection. Early diagnosis, targeting precancerous lesions (advanced adenomas) and early stage CRC (Tis and T1), is critical for improving patient survival. Given the limitations of current detection methods for advanced adenomas, developing high-performance early diagnostic strategies is essential for effective prevention.

Multi-Omics and Clinical Validation Identify Key Glycolysis- and Immune-Related Genes in Sepsis.

Int J Gen Med

September 2025

Department of Geriatrics, Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, 610072, People's Republic of China.

Background: Sepsis is characterized by profound immune and metabolic perturbations, with glycolysis serving as a pivotal modulator of immune responses. However, the molecular mechanisms linking glycolytic reprogramming to immune dysfunction remain poorly defined.

Methods: Transcriptomic profiles of sepsis were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus.

Objectives: This study examined the association between adherence to the Dutch MIND diet (Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay, MIND-NL) and the Dutch dietary guidelines (DHD2015-index) with global cognitive function in older adults at risk of cognitive decline.

Design And Setting: A cross-sectional study was conducted using baseline data of the FINGER-NL trial.

Participants: A total of 1,135 older adults, aged 60-80 years, at risk for cognitive decline with complete dietary data and complete neuropsychological tests were included in the analyses.

In vitro assessment of the inhibitory effect of antiplatelet drugs on platelet aggregation is frequently employed to guide personalized antiplatelet therapy in clinical practice. However, existing methods for detecting platelet aggregation rely heavily on high concentrations of exogenous agonists, which may obscure part of the inhibitory effect of antiplatelet drugs and lead to an underestimation of their effects. This study validates a novel analytical strategy for evaluating the effects of antiplatelet drugs by quantifying the microscopic three-dimensional morphological parameters of platelet aggregates formed through spontaneous aggregation on a glass surface.

Enhancing Paediatric Deterioration Assessment Across Diverse Skin Tones: Insights and Future Directions.

J Clin Nurs

September 2025

Teaching and Research Section of Clinical Nursing, Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, Changsha, People's Republic of China.

Background: Skin tone can affect clinical signs and device accuracy in paediatric anaemia and deterioration detection, creating risks of inequity.

Key Issues: Studies show disparities in diagnostic accuracy across different skin tones, supported by community-based evidence.

Recommendations: (1) Build multicenter networks with standardised skin-tone data.
