Thrips can damage over 200 species across 62 plant families, causing significant economic losses worldwide. Their tiny size, rapid reproduction, and wide host range make them prone to outbreaks, necessitating precise and efficient population monitoring methods. Existing intelligent counting methods lack effective solutions for tiny pests like thrips.

Determining species boundaries is key for appropriately assessing biodiversity. However, the continuity of the speciation process makes delimiting species a difficult task, especially for recently diverged taxa. Diet regimes rich in fruits and vegetables have been adopted as effective strategies for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Here, we identified miR166e, a plant miRNA abundantly present in fruits and vegetables, as a functional agent that ameliorates T2DM in a mouse model. Drying trends driven by climate change and the water stress they entail threaten ecosystem functioning and the services they provide to humans. To get a better understanding of an ecosystem response to drying trends, we study a mathematical model of plant communities that compete for water and light. We focus on two major responses to water stress: community shifts to stress-tolerant species and spatial self-organization in periodic vegetation patterns.

RNA viruses have high mutation frequency, quick generation periods and vast population numbers, which promote fast evolution and host environment adaptation. We integrated scRNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics to profile immune cells and viral gene expression in COVID-19. Cell types and interactions were identified using Seurat-based tools.
