Objectives: Since many Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) were not achieved, countries including Iran-despite achieving some of the MDGs-need regular planning to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. This article examines maternal and child health indicators in the early years of the SDGs in Iran relative to several other countries.
Methods: This study was carried out through a secondary analysis of maternal and child health indicators in Iran. The results were compared with data from other countries divided into three groups: countries with upper-middle income levels, countries in the Eastern Mediterranean region, and the countries covered by the Outlook Document 1,404 (a regional classification). Then, the relationship between these indicators and the Human Development Index was investigated.
Results: Iran has attained better results than other countries with respect to maternal mortality, family planning, skilled birth attendance, under-5 deaths, incidence of hepatitis B, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccination coverage, and antenatal care. In contrast, Iran performed worse than other countries with respect to under-5 wasting, under-5 stunting, and care-seeking behavior for children.
Conclusions: Overall, among the 11 indicators surveyed, Iran has attained better-than-average results and seems to be improving. We recommend that Iran continue interventions in the field of maternal and child health.

Background: Nodular hidradenoma (NH) is a rare benign adnexal tumor originating from sweat glands, often misdiagnosed due to nonspecific clinical manifestations. Ultrasonography (US) plays a critical role in the diagnosis of skin tumors, yet systematic descriptions of its sonographic features remain limited.
Objective: This study aims to investigate the very-high-frequency (VHF) characteristics of eccrine nodular hidradenoma (ENH) and establish key imaging criteria to differentiate it from other cutaneous/subcutaneous lesions.

Progression of a caesarean scar ectopic pregnancy (CSEP) to a live birth is exceptionally rare. Whether the placenta should be removed during a caesarean section for patients with a CSEP complicated by severe placenta accreta spectrum remains unclear. This report presents the case of a 42-year-old multigravida with two prior caesarean sections who presented with CSEP at 6 weeks.

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), a type of diabetes mellitus occurring in pregnant women, increases the risk of birth trauma. Solute carrier family 2 member 4 (SLC2A4) polymorphism is notably associated with GDM susceptibility; however, the mechanism is unknown. In the present study, HTR-8/SVneo cells were treated with high glucose concentrations and transfected with SLC2A4 and Forkhead box O (FoxO)1 to investigate their roles in the insulin (INS) resistance of GDM trophoblast cells.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a prevalent chronic respiratory disorder characterized by airway inflammation and irreversible airflow limitation. Its marked heterogeneity and complexity pose significant challenges to traditional clinical assessments in terms of prognostic prediction and personalized management. In recent years, the exploration of biomarkers has opened new avenues for the precise evaluation of COPD, particularly through multi-biomarker prediction models and integrative multimodal data strategies, which have substantially improved the accuracy and reliability of prognostic assessments.

Background: Emerging evidence suggests vitamin D plays a dual role in immune regulation, yet its interplay with genetic susceptibility in early-life allergy development remains poorly understood. This prospective cohort study investigated whether cord blood 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] levels interact with immunoregulatory gene variants to influence childhood food allergy risk.
Methods: A total of 1,049 mother-infant pairs from the Shanghai Allergy Cohort were stratified by cord blood 25(OH)D concentrations (<15, 15-25, >25 ng/mL).
