Poly(ethylene glycol)--poly(trimethylene carbonate) PEG--PTMC diblock copolymers were synthesized with five different PTMC degrees of polymerization ( = 38, 96, 144, 170, 332) and their self-assembly properties in water were studied using a manual nanoprecipitation procedure. We confirmed that the copolymer's hydrophilic weight fraction () is controlling nanoparticles morphology. We determined that the PEG--PTMC with ≈ 17% is the optimal hydrophilic fraction for the stabilization of well-defined unilamellar vesicles with a membrane thickness of δ ≈ 14.6 nm. Maintaining this fraction constant and modulating the overall molar mass of the block copolymers allowed the establishment of a power law of [Formula: see text] which provides a robust correlation between the molar mass of PTMC and vesicles' membrane thickness. Finally, we proved that controlling nanoprecipitation's conditions by microfluidics allowed fine-tuning and control of the nanoparticles size and polydispersity index while maintaining their shape with a perfect batch-to-batch reproducibility.

To evaluated the efficacy of photodynamic therapy (PDT) in improving laryngeal mucosal wound scar healing in vivo and investigated its underlying mechanisms. Laryngeal mucosal wounds were induced in Sprague-Dawley rats. Two weeks post-injury, PDT was administered via intraperitoneal injection of 100 mg/kg 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) and 635-nm red laser irradiation at varying energy doses (15, 30, and 45 J/cm²).

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by synovial hyperplasia and pannus formation, which serves as its primary pathological feature and may ultimately result in joint deformities. Lysyl oxidase (LOX) is involved in the formation and remodeling of the extracellular matrix, but its role in RA is not yet clear. This study aims to investigate the mechanism of lysyl oxidase (LOX) in synovial hyperplasia and pannus formation associated with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Deciphering the multicomponent of cell membranes at the single-cell level is critical for understanding pathological mechanisms such as tumor metastasis, yet remains technically daunting due to the membrane's nanoscale thickness and ultralow molecular abundance. Here, we introduce a surface-assisted vacuum ultraviolet laser desorption-ionization mass spectrometry imaging (SAVUVDI-MSI) platform that overcomes long-standing challenges of cytoplasmic interference and insufficient sensitivity. Leveraging the nanoscale depth profiling capability of VUV-LDI, we achieve precise ablation of a single-cell membrane.

Background: Persistent full-thickness macular holes (FTMHs) following primary surgery represent a therapeutic challenge. Various surgical treatment approaches have been proposed. This study evaluates anatomical and functional outcomes of a temporary silicone oil tamponade in persistent FTMH in a larger cohort.
